Still trying to decide between different options

Not to get off topic but :willy_nil:rocker::thumbup::deathmeta:badteeth: I had no idea RD was based in SLC, that is a stones throw from me, I actually drive through there twice per week. I wasn't really considering RD for my garage till just now, I like to support local. Any chance I could...

    New construction insulation??

Walls will be drywalled as will the ceiling, I can't remember for sure if the ceiling is vaulted or not? I'm not sure of the height either off the top of my head I'll have to look at plans. I'll look into that, thanks

    New construction insulation??

I will be talking to the sub contractors on some other things so I'll run it by the insulation guys and see what they say. I just don't want to get in hot water with my builder by not going through him on things, but obviously he is higher priced than doing it myself or going straight to the sub.

    New construction insulation??

Hi all, So I'm building a new house and looking for garage insulation tips. My builder doesn't include insulation and the price to add it on seems steep but he mentioned that he will let me do it my self before the sheetrock is up. The garage doors are insulated so thats a plus. It is an 864sq...

    gun safe questions

Another thing you want to keep in mind is actually getting it into place. These things are very heavy, the link above is nearly 500lb. A bunch of friends is ok but professional install is a good idea if you have to go down a lot of stairs or through some tricky openings and corners. The last...

    gun safe questions

Utah residents place a high importance on preparedness and self sufficiency. Food storage is also a huge industry here. A lot of this comes from the majority mormon population. Plus Utah is a pretty good state for business because of tax laws and what not.

    gun safe questions

Best advice yet. You will always want a bigger one, you might not fill a small one now but when you start realizing how much of a comfort it is to put vertain things in a safe you will add to it quickly. Think jewlery, heirlooms, coins, certain kinds items you want to keep, things you want to...

    gun safe questions

This can be a bit misleading. Conditions are very different from fire to fire. Safe location, surrounding materials, duration and flame exposure, etc, etc, etc. make a big difference even if both were total house burns. Do some serious research. Go to several local safe stores and just ask...

    Wood stove for garage heat??

As a firefighter, thats a big check. I have fire extinguishers for decorative purposes let alone actual safety  Plus I'm looking for an excuse to install a sprinkler system anyways :bounce: That floor sounds fantastic!

    Wood stove for garage heat??

828 sq ft. Should have plenty of room for everything. Good idea about hving vents going between the levels I never really thought of that. Municipality is no problem, rural area. Insurance I'n not sure. Yes I would use it as supplemental, wood around here is too expensive to run it constantly.

    MP&C Shop Projects

I hate threads like this! The whole time I look I'm thinking that I should be working on a resto (I have a '70 caddy sitting in the shed) but I have to remind myself how much I hate body work before I get too carried away :)

    Wood stove for garage heat??

Hi all, First post so forgive my lack of knowledge. How does a wood stove work out for heating a garage? I plan on having one in my basement when we finish it so I thought why not in the garage also. Mostly I like the wood idea for disaster preparedness and self sustainability (I'm a...
