    need a *new* air compressor

found a "like new" cman pro 27g at a local sears outlet + 10% off, so ill be picking it up at lunch. Still carries same warranty, etc, so makes the price hard to beat. it seems to get the most solid reviews, and for my use, should work out well....thanks everyone for the input.

    need a *new* air compressor

i think i actually mentioned oil-lube as a requirement. either way, Ill stop by my HF this weekend, but think the Cman sounds like the way to go. Reviews seem to be good/better all around. Is 27g going to be enough to run a small HVLP gun for a closet door or small bookcase once in awhile?

    need a *new* air compressor

Im a weekend mechanic and home DIY'er looking for something that will run a small HVLP gun (5-7 SCFM) for small around-the-house jobs (doors, small parts, etc) and an air ratchet, etc a few times a month. Thinking 30 gallons +/- would be the min, not sure I can afford 60 (space or $). Needs to...

    infrequent use air compressor?

is there a specific place to go for decent tanks and connections, etc? Should I be looking for something air specific, or is a clean propane tank ok? It seems like some of the tanks im finding cost more than the cheapo 30g compressors!

    infrequent use air compressor?

I have a small rigid 4.5g twin stack for around the house, etc but I just purchased a small HVLP gun and after a small test project, I really need more volume. The only problem is I probably wont be using the HVLP gun more than a few times a year. Id love to go out and get a nice 30g 5+hp, but...

    Need help / ideas

I am an old-time bike mechanic (the pedal kind) and have a handful of old tools from the 60's made in italy by Campagnolo. I am not sure if they actually made them, but their stamp is on them and they came as a set in an amazing felt lined wooden box. I havent found one for sale in a long...

    SO rookie

This has been done to death in some shape or form, but bear with me for a second; I dont wrench professionally and have always used relatively inexpensive Cman ratchets. They work fine, but I want to try something better. I need a new 1/4" ratchet. I am tired of my cman not staying engaged...

    Bicycle tools?

I hear ya, I just like how the DT grabs all four sides like a brake flare nut wrench. Especially useful when building up low spoke/high tension wheels w/ alloy *******....not my cup of tea, but cyclists are finicky like that. Actually, I dunno that they make it anymore...not listed in...

    Bicycle tools?

18yrs of wrenching experience tells me you can do just about anything with the included list of tools. In the end, its a bike, not a spaceship. You dont *need* fancy tools, but if you wrench out of desire, nice tools are always enjoyable. Like everyone said, Park is the benchmark. Hozan...

At what level would you rate my tools?

I concur...15yrs of wrenching on bikes (the pedal version) and I think I have almost five full drawers of bike-related tools....but thats not really the point here... You've got the basics...fill in as you need them to make life easier. Rome wasnt built in one day and your wallet wouldnt...

    copper airline fittings?

ah, that makes more sense...sweat on a drop ear elbow and then screw on a quick disconnect...i knew something wasnt adding up... Im fine with 3/4 price, just thinking that fittings/hose are probably the limiter no matter how big you make the main lines... thanks

    copper airline fittings?

I am working up what I need to piece together for my copper airline system in my garage. First off, I have a 60gal IR tank. Should I run 3/4 or will 1/2 copper suffice? I think my biggest air hog for now is a fairly efficient HVLP spraygun at about 8 or 9 CFM. I am planning 60' overhead line...

    Work Bench Top/Coating

I just built my bench and threw on a sheet of 3/4 melamine...its the cheaper version of formica (lpl vs hpl), and not as strong against dents/chips, but sofar so good. (just for a test, i tried to gouge it with my keys and it really took a ton of effort to barely scratch it). Anyway, I rounded...

    New drill/driver time...any favorites?

My old Porter Cable 14.4v drill was a beast and got me through 8 years of remodeling but the batteries are gone and I finally have some extra coin to get a new one. my work is about 30/70 drilling/driving. I am really interested in an impact driver after I borrowed a makita for a small drywall...
