    Generator Selection and Install

Glad OP figured out things. I wouldn't hesitate to use a field connected cord cap. The have weather proof ones, as Dave said. But how long is the generator cord? The 25' 30 Amp molded cords are not that expensive. I bought a fairly cheap, no-name one, on Amazon recently. (This was for a...

    Generator Selection and Install

@Firebrick43 The first citation, 7.12.1.1 states "likely to become energized". "likely to become energized" is if the appliance or equipment has power to it. As far as CSST, the black coated and their fittings are rated as bonding, the yellow is not. At least as of a few years ago. A...

Building the Cub Cadet Garage. Finally it's Done

If I were building a small shed like this and it was close enough to grade, I'd double or triple the PT bottom plate, and I'd wrap the bottom with a Pvc water table. And start the sheathing above that. Lots of small details on how to do that.

    Generator Selection and Install

It's prettty much not possible that one side vertically works and the other doesn't, as others have said. As someone else said, switch the pattern. it's almost possible that you somehow in a lottery jackpot type of way, have all L1 circuits off on one side, and the L2 isn't getting power from...

    Generator Selection and Install

Can you provide the specific text that requires this? This technical document (random search) doesn't support your analysis. https://lightning.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Tech_Letter-NFPA_54_to_Include_Bonding_8-08.pdf I only referenced Mike Holt as he has a number of well accepted...

    Knipex Electrician’s Shears

Just ordered the knipex in the op. For $25, it piqued my interest. I'm a big fan of the knipex NE linesmans and front cutters, so I'll try these. ( I am an electricain, but I'm sure I'll find other uses for these as well)

    M18 Milwaukee Impact Driver

I have a brand new (used maybe 3X) 12 Ah that failed. That isn't a cheap battery. I did "force" my electrical distributor to replace it, even though it wasn't under warranty. (I had to ***** and tell him to figure out how to do it. I spend over $10K a month there, figure out how to warranty...

Floor jacks - Harbor Freights Daytona Super Duty vs. Daytona Long reach/Low profile - who wins?

I have that same jack (yellow, but I could care less about color) that I bought about 5-6 years ago primarily to swap summer and winter tires on my sprinter 3500 dual rear wheel work van. The van rolls close to 9K lbs. This jack lifts the rear end from under the rear diff, without issue. It...

Need a meter socket and 200 Amp Panel Recommendations

All of the 320/400 amp meter sockets I've seen are lever bypass. The poco (national grid) requires byopass levers on all meters other than residential, even 100 amp. As example, I recently installed a small service to only power an irrigation well at a condo complex. They require a bypass...

    Cold H2O Ground Qs

So I'm not clear what you did and why. One initial question is whether your meter pedestal also includes the service disconnect, or is "just a meter" remote from the house. I've done both installations many times. What is a "cold water ground"? Presumably it is either use of a metal...

    Cold H2O Ground Qs

Sorry, I brought up the well casing as a sidebar point. Nothing to do with OP.

Why would an appliance have a "max breaker size"

Agree, post the nameplate. The nameplate accounts for all the calcs.

    Cold H2O Ground Qs

What year was this?^^ Insperctor was probably 'out of line', but there isn't much better of a grounding electrode than a steel well casing.

Oh crud I have to cut my floor

I'd use the extended base support and be done. That 3.5" of concrete, in a continuous pour, will hold up fine, if it's on a proper base.

Freshening up oil and grease soaked workbench

How deep has the oil seeped? I've leave it as-is or flip it over. I don't know how you extract oil and stains that have soaked into hardwood. I'd rub more oil on it and call it character, depending on what my intended use was.

Locate and repair/splice underground service entrance cable vs just replacing entire cable?

As others said, replace it an be done. Use PVC as extra protection, and size it to 2" for a future service upgrade. If you have to dig it up and splice it for a temp fix, do so. NFW I'd splice direct buried aluminum USE and think I'd be "fine" thereafter.

    EV Charger and Generac

BR is a line that started as Bryant, and expanded to Challenger, T&B, General switch (I think or it was a knock off in the early '900's) and landed at Eaton. A number of breakers will fit the BR panels. Siemens/ ITE, Homeline, Murray, as Dave stated. I wouldn't lose sleep if I had one of...

    The DeWalt Addiction Thread

After buying these 12V DW batteries by mistake, I thought I could do a search and find some DW 12V tools that would justify the gaff, and I'd get some use. I just don't see much out there except the drill/ driver and oscillating tool. And I don't need any more of those, in any brand or...

Panel isn't rated for tandems. Just add a subpanel next to it. I see it's flush mount, how much space is next to it?
