Whatever heater you end up buying will come with documentation that outlines the requirements for venting. Typically your vent needs to clear any structure/overhang by at least 12 inches.

The one I have is fully enclosed and will regularly only wind in one spot causing it to not full wind back. I have to pay attention to hold the hose to alternating sides so it wraps evenly.
