    At the shop we have a rule if your not 110% sure where it goes leave it on top. I have lost tools in my own box because some one put them in the wrong place.

    The hf gun is ok. The reason body shops use the expensive guns is so they can match a factory finish. On something like a motor home where a little extra orange peal isn't going to attract attention or something that is going to need sanded and buffed any such as a show car the hf gun works...

    engraved (lightly) snap on tools. How to I remove the engraving?

    A while back I picked up a set of large so wrenches off cl dirt cheap,. They had three different engravings from three different owners. I tool a scotchbrite roloc and took the engravings down then buffed them they are much duller but I'm ok with it. If I where you I would leave the as is.

    Why ia it such a surprise at the time that box was made Stanley was probably still a respectable all American company. Even today Snap-on outsources some of there tools I have a thread restorer kit it's the same as a co workers except mine has Mac stickers and his has snap on.

    What torque meter for setting pinion bearing preload?

    You need the beam type that has a long needle and a gauge near the handle. Drive size isn't important what's important is that the preload specs are in the range of that wrench and that you have a socket that will fit the nut and drive on the wrench.
