    Damn, it’s backordered.

    Humongous Snap-On Sockets - Yours For $25K!!

According to the listing, the retail price is $65,000. I was thinking the same thing, can’t imagine throwing them on a 1” impact. It seems like a 1.5” or 2.5” drive would be more suited for something that big. I’m guessing there’s even larger, industrial-sized drives for stuff that large as...

    Humongous Snap-On Sockets - Yours For $25K!!

This is a pretty insane set of 1” impacts. I’d be interested to know how they got them and why they’re selling them. They seem unused, but I can’t imagine anyone buying sockets this size without a specific purpose. It’s not like buying a few extra 3/8” drives to fill out your set “just because.”...

Some Various Snap-On Wrenches and Sockets

I’m looking for the following Snap-On items. Not interested in owner’s marks and/or engravings: - XSOM89 - 8mm and 9mm short 60 degree offset double box end wrench - XSOM1011 - 10mm and 11mm short 60 degree offset double box end wrench - SRXM19 - Ratcheting open end/non ratcheting box end...

Confess: What Tool Did You Not Really Need But Bought Anyhow? (Silly Stuff Included)

It would probably be easier to list the tools that I actually ‘needed’ versus the ones I didn’t. I literally picked a drawer in my box to randomly add something to this thread. The heavy-duty bushing driver set below is something that I needed in my truck repair days. It contains all the most...

What kind of tools have you found in the road??

I would imagine that thing has to be pushing, if not over 40 years old. Great score.

What kind of tools have you found in the road??

I found a DeWalt circular saw with a matching carry bag while walking my dog early one morning. If anyone finds my Craftsman Pro 7/16 combo wrench, please let me know, the set just isn’t the same without it.

60gal upright air compressor floor attach?

We had a gigantic IR compressor mounted to its shipping pallet for 15+ years. No movement whatsoever. Plus, it made it easy to move when we sold the building. I definitely wouldn’t place it solely on the floor. Metal feet on concrete seems like trouble.

    Dipping Ratchets in Oil

I used corn head grease in the steering box for one of my old VWs. Supposedly it’s thick like grease until there is some type of movement and then it becomes more like an oil. Was suggested on a VW site because it isn’t as prone to leaking out of an old steering box with leaky seals. If nothing...

Two Very Different Snap-On Sockets - Same Part#

The Snap-On site shows a 320 in the photo, but a 360 is the 1 1/8” version of the same socket. I think the post above is correct in that it is a modified version of the SIML360. The eBay listing for the odd socket shows it next to a ruler and it is indeed 5 inches, just like the SIML360. Here is...

Two Very Different Snap-On Sockets - Same Part#

I just happened to see this socket on eBay yesterday. It is listed as SIML360, which I recognized as the number for an extra deep 1 1/8” impact socket, so I figured the seller typed the wrong item#. Nope. I zoomed in on the picture and it is indeed the same number. Have they recycled item #s in...

What’s the use case for the new tekton 1/2” drive large impacts up to 50mm?

That’s a great use for them. A 3/4” gun is a hell of a lot heavier and awkward that a 1/2”, and while your laying under a truck I could see that making the job a lot easier. To answer the OP’s question, my VW Bus has a 46mm axle socket that comes off easily with a 1/2” gun. Not quite a 50mm...

    Dipping Ratchets in Oil

These threads make my head spin. I took apart 4 of my old Snap-On ratchets a few months back, two old 1/2” drives from the 40’s, an old 3/4” drive and the massive L-78 1 1/2”er. I cleaned them all out until I could eat out of them, sprayed them with some PB Blaster and then stuffed them with...

Snap on set on eBay 😮

I always find it funny (and I’m guilty of this, too, and not just with tools) that when something is discontinued because it didn’t sell, everyone all of a sudden wants it.

Snap on set on eBay 😮

I totally get it from a collector’s point of view. I even mentioned that in the first sentence of the post. I’m absolutely guilty of buying complete sets of tools that I may really only need one or two sizes of. I consider tools a hobby and I enjoy searching for the tools needed to complete my...

Lets make an all vintage Snap-on tool picture thread!

I can’t quite tell what year this half moon wrench is. The code looks like ‘86, but the wrench seems much older than that. It has a rounded shape to it, whereas my other half moons have straight sides, as shown. I put the set together piece by piece, so they did not come together. I was...

Snap on set on eBay 😮

Scarcity marketing. I can understand having that many ratchets if someone is a collector. However, I see some of these guys that are wrenching for a living and they have thousands and thousands of dollars in ratchets in their toolbox. It’s their money so they can do as they choose, but to me I...

Lets make an all vintage Snap-on tool picture thread!

This is one of my favorites. It’s a VW drain plug tool. I bought it on eBay a few years ago with two or three other Snap-On VW specialty tools. All of which are like new. I’ve always been into air-cooled VWs so I’m always trying to find VW specific SO stuff.

Lets make an all vintage Snap-on tool picture thread!

One of the coolest sockets I’ve seen here. I wonder if it was for a specific task or if it was just a low-profile socket. Given its age I’d say not. Nice find, super jealous!
