Need a Recommendation for a Home Air Cleaner - I Have Three Dogs

I’m in the market for a home air cleaner. My one big requirement is that it has a cleanable/reusable filter. I have three dogs, two are large Shepherd mixes. One of which sheds constantly, the other loves digging in the dirt. I can clean a surface and literally within a few days I can write my...

Did you see a date code on mine? If so, where? I can’t seem to find it.

    Vintage Craftsman Collectors Thread

Anyone have any idea on how old this ratchet may be? Also, do rebuild kits exist for this? I bought it as a lot of 4 old ratchets on eBay for $10 that contained an old Snap On that I was interested in. I’m a fan of old Craftsman as well and I’d like to make this thing operational. Thanks!

Lets make an all vintage Snap-on tool picture thread!

I just got this. It was an eBay auction with three other ratchets. I was the only bidder. $10 plus $10 shipping. Anyone have any idea of the year for this? I don’t see any date stamp. The SO logo is worn down quite a bit, too. It works, though. I’m going to open it up and grease it. Maybe try...

Problem with estwing dead blow coming apart

Had the exact same experience. I bought a set of three sometime in the late 90’s. At most I used one of them once. A few years ago I attempted to use one and it disintegrated. Pulled out the other two and they both fell apart. They exchanged them no hassle. I have some Craftsman Professional...

    Unsual Socket Set

Really neat set, and an even better story. Sorry for the loss of your brother-in-law. That breaker bar is super cool, by the way.

One of the smallest "Man Caves" around

Wow, what an awesome thread! Some really great photos of unique (to us Americans) tools, cars, garages, etc. Looks like you live in a beautiful part of the world. I saw you have twins, I do as well. 9 year old boy and girl. Can’t imagine having only one child, must be boring. Nice work my...

I have the same bookshelf for my records as well. I’m curious, what are the ones with the black and red spines that you have several of?

    Craftsman V-series clearance

You’re on to something with Harbor Freight. They’ve in a way taken a spot that Sears left vacant. Not to mention there’s tons of “influencers” reviewing their products on YouTube and elsewhere. None of them are comparing Icon to more economical brands, it’s always Icon vs tool truck brands...

    Craftsman V-series clearance

Can’t speak for that, but I do remember when I worked at Sears back in ‘98-‘99 and they started exchanging rebuilt ratchets for the broken ones people would bring in. The verbal abuse I endured was insane. I would try to explain that the only part that wasn’t new was the handle, which doesn’t...

Who makes those wrench organizers? Opinion? Cost?

    Let's Talk Flare Nut Wrenches!

I had those working on trucks in PA. I swapped for Snap On. They rounded off one too many fittings for me. I had lots of the Craftsman Professional stuff and for the most part I was happy with the lineup, just not the flare nut wrenches or the ratcheting screwdriver.

Can we assume anything with a script logo is considered vintage? In that case I have tons. Here’s a few I like that I snapped some photos of.

Wrench sets besides combination to add to the box

These are very reasonable on the used market (eBay) for whatever reason. I had one or two sizes and was looking to fill out the set but it was cheaper for me to buy the whole set, tray and all. Last week, after months of searching I scored an “almost” complete set of the discontinued short...

Evolution of socket drive sizes over time

I always figured tool manufacturers were in bed with auto makers to come up with ‘new’ types of fasteners in order to force techs to have to buy new tools. How many different styles of socket head bolts do we really need?

Evolution of socket drive sizes over time

Does anyone know for sure if they ever made a 1/8” drive ratchet? I’ve never seen one in person, in a catalog or online. The socket driver would probably be more than adequate for any fastener that small. I always figured the 1/8” set was more of a gimmick than an actual tool.

Snapped this photo today. I thought it was fitting for this thread. 1/4” up to 1 1/2”.

Evolution of socket drive sizes over time

I’m surprised they still sell that. After seeing your post I entered the part# into Snap-On’s website but nothing came up. Yet, your picture is obviously new based on the date. I have the set pictured. It doesn’t really serve any purpose other than to say that I have it. Anyone know if they ever...

1/2 drive in 3/8 size ratchet

I certainly agree with you. However, cars have become exponentially more difficult to work on. Not just because of the technology involved, but access can be near impossible at times. My first car was a ‘65 Mustang. I could change the oil while standing. Everything was accessible from the hood...
