What to do with concrete block wall in garage

I'm looking at using some cosmetic diamond plate on mine. Has anybody ever used this? http://www.cutsmetal.net/48-x-120-full-sheet-aluminum-diamond-plate-with-chrome-vinyl-trim/

Got a price back fo an addition

All I can say is things must be a ton cheaper in Ohio than MN. I have been struggling for more than a year to get a garage addition that is roughly 25x28 done and have had estimates for over $87,000 for a completely finished space to $46,000 for a space that is finished on the outside but...

    Garage addition before the snow?

Thanks for all the feedback. It sounds like it is doable if things get scheduled right. I do remain concerned about schedules. I was on the hook to get some trees removed and stumps ground and had that lined up for the spring until it fell through due to GC delays. I contacted them again last...

    Garage addition before the snow?

three quick follow ups: 1) There would be 5 courses of block. 2) The footing and block duration was largely about about allowing the concrete to cure long enough to be worked on. If they can build block on top of footings that have been poured the day before or frame on top of block that was...

    Garage addition before the snow?

Well that is good to know. Weather in MN this year has been horrific and caused many delays all over the place. It may these weather issues that have caused my GC to keep pushing me off but it sure would be nice if he communicated that to me. Hopefully our bad weather is coming to an end, my...

    Garage addition before the snow?

I have been going through delay after delay with the GC I'm trying to use to build my garage addition and I am now wondering whether it is even feasible to get it shelled before the snow flies. Keeping it simple, think of the garage as a 25x28 by 11' high addition to an existing garage. It is...

Anyone have a certainteed shingle claim?

My certainteed shingles were installed in 1996 and failed completely by 2008. They were "guaranteed" for 25 years and were included in a class action lawsuit. In the end I had to do stupid human tricks, stand on my head, and produce all kinds of information for them and all they coughed up was...

    Opinions for heat and a/c

I'm hoping to build about a 800 sqft addition to my garage here in the Minneapolis area of MN. The addition will be joined to the existing garage but I'm going to keep the wall between them so I can zone them separately. In the current garage I was focused on heat first (like I said, I live in...

10 days until concrete of 30x40x12 Garage, What am i missing?

Check the lift specs. I'm certain that 4" of 3000 psi without any mesh or rebar is a bad idea and will likely not be enough for the lifts. I'd go with a minimum of 4" at 4000 psi with mesh or rebar but to be safe I'd prefer to go with 5".

Just got my bid back...having some sticker shock

What other "upgraded" finishes do you have besides the brick? Upgraded shingles, windows, doors, openers, etc. How much electric; a few outlets or a sub-panel with lots of circuits. How high are the walls? Any special concrete work such as extra strength, mesh, special finish? The estimate...
