I am not a pro mechanic and have built a good relationship with my local Matco Guy. I meet him a few times a month at one of his regular stops. It all started with a phone call. I never had a problem, my money spends just like anybody elses.

I recently purchased the Fein Multi-tool and really like it. I have used it a lot since I bought it, it has worked well, and saved me a lot of time. I purchased the model without the quick release and saved about $200. I also checked out the Dremel Multi-tool and thought it was very loud...

+1... I know dealer pretty well and his margin average is no where near that. Just like in any business, giving out freebies or good deals to customers are not free to the business owner, but just the cost of doing good business.

I will be doing the same soon, so I am interested too. I was thinking of using hard plastic or nylon pry tools and a hammer and tap the trim off. I don't know if this is the best technique, but it is the best I could come up with.

Sell it or restore it, just don't let it go to waste... Items like that are hard to come by.

I have a Rockwell (ie older Delta) wood bandsaw that I used to cut aluminum for years. I used as low as 14tpi and high as 24tpi blades with good results on both. I found it depends on how thin of aluminum you are cutting (higher tpi will avoid the blade "snagging" on thin aluminum and bending...

It depends on what you are looking at. It has been my experience that if you buy the equipment that Gizzly advertises as ISO 9001 etc it normally is a good value for the money. But, it is also my experience that some of their stuff is junky. Their customr service is great.
