anyone know what the LP stands for in this pic?

Based on some a lot of "whatzit" responses, I'm pretty sure some of our fellow GJ'ers are already AI agents..

Pros/cons of French-style "clés à pipes" socket wrenches

I know 50 years seems like a long time ago to youngsters, but c'mon that was 1976! My dad was using sockets with a ratchet in the late 20's and he was just a poor 19 year old mechanic working on Model T's and A's....

A Savage Inventory of the Tools That Actually Matter

My EDC pocket knife (currently a Kershaw 3160 Crown Gentleman's Knife), the 20 Volt Dewalt Drill/Driver combo and the three Horrible Freight 110v overhead winches , including the one in my barn centrally located 14 feet in the air on an 8 foot swinging jib boom, the one mounted overhead just...

    Bandsaw wheels out of plane

Check the shaft/hinge assembly for the upper wheel. They crack around the hinge, will eventually come apart, but in the meantime you can try to get things aligned and it'll move on ya. Drove me crazy one night till I found the break. Parts are available, my parts NLA Rigid got put back together...

    Portable Generator Battery Ideas

Since that battery is only for starting the engine, why are you focusing on an oversized battery? I've used a small MC battery for years on an 18 horse Vanguard twin, of course I amke sure the engine is kept in good shape..

What Tool Is The Bane of your existence? I'll go 1st

Drill bits ..... all of them...every last one ever made! Spent an hour yesterday drilling 12 holes in a cabinet to put in RivNuts, I swear the drill bits were softening as soon as they touched paint on the sheet metal.

Above 1200 Sq/FT The Salvage Garage

I heated with wood for 31 years.. Central chimney- not on outer wall, so I get the full benefit of the creosote smell when high temp and humidity combine. Fortunately you can only smell it close to the base of the chimney in the basement, but it's a reminder of the past that will never go away..

Above 1200 Sq/FT The Salvage Garage

With the sheet metal tools you got, plus the CNC mill and laser, I see potential for your own line of tool boxes and cabinets.. "StroutyBilt" sound good. Put Listless and SnapOff right outa business..

Above 1200 Sq/FT The Salvage Garage

Before you buy a new trailer, you should consult with Casey LaDelle (Cascade Heavy Rescue) He knows the ins and outs of heavy haul trailers (and light ones too) and has had some pretty cool ones on his YT channel..

Looking for an upgrade to my Craftsman wood thickness planer

The 735 and a Shellix head might cost $1200 max, The SCM520's I've seen are big ticket items.... You sure you bought a SCM 520?

Compared to the cost of the tool (your traded labor), the potential future value in use of it can be limitless.... You won!

Decisions Decisions Upstairs AC crapped out after 40 years

When I replaced my '92 Goodman 3 ton in 2024, the primary reason to replace rather than refurb was the low availability/high cost of the Freon in use in '92. My tech company wouldn't even talk about a refurb.. I am very happy with the multi-stage heat pump and furnace combination from Carrier...

    Underground Lair of the Squankum

Great photography ... I should try putting a camera behind one of my Miller hoods sometime. The TIG sequence shows the arc wandering, I usually resharpen the tungsten at that point. The laser cutting of steel appears to leave a nasty edge with lots of dross, like a dirty plasma cut. The MIG...

Help me spend money - DWE7491RS vs. GTS15-10

I've had the Dewalt for a few years, did lots of ripping of 2x stock. I like the fence, the 32' capacity is nice although I prefer other means of breaking down sheet goods. Comments on the rolling stand are correct, it is very stable when set up, but a little bit of strain for my old back in...

Speed Handles --- What They Good For?

My 3/8" SK-Wayne speed handle with a shallow 7/16" socket was always ready to remove the rocker cover bolts on a first generation SBC..

    Miter Saw adjustment...

Is it possible that the motor bearings are ever so slightly worn/loose? The blade's first point of contact is in the middle of the piece and the cut spreads both in and out from that point - I can see where a slight wobble in the blade could create issues.
