Recommend a 3/8 Impact Socket Strategy

I'll second the mid-length sockets being the most reached for. Once you have them they become a go to. I have 2 sets of the sunex mid-length sockets, one at work and one at home. I'd avoid using chrome sockets on the impact, as you will go through hog rings more often. They also tend to be...

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

That new m12 stubby is very tempting. If true I could retire my mid torque, as when I need more ugga-duggas I have the high torque.

Anyone running a full set of Hazet 600LG (extra long pattern)?

Long versus Extra Long 3/8 locking flex head ratchet

One? The 18" matco locking flex. It's my most used. I mainly deal with suspension though. Still great in the engine bay for tensioners or other items where a long reach is necessary.

The M12 stubby 3/8" impact should do it for you then. 2554-20 This is also an option.

    The Milwaukee addiction thread! :)

Depends on if your working on trucks or have rust. Here in CA I've used my 3/8" drive converted 2553 and 3453 to pull lug nuts on passenger cars and some light duty pickups. But if overtorque'd, rusty or cross threaded it isn't enough. The closest equivalent that Milwaukee actually produces is...

    1/4” swivel sockets

Pic & link https://www.harborfreight.com/14-in-drive-metric-professional-universal-joint-shallow-socket-set-70298.html They look to be similar in length to the gear wrench pictured above. So not the shortest but at least the pin or screw won't disappear on you.

    1/4” swivel sockets

I haven't had my hands on them (yet) but HF just released some for their Icon line. They have a welded pin instead of a bolt thru design. They look longer than snap on but for a fraction of the price, it may be an option for you. Ymmv, but snap on are probably the shortest.

Are 1/2 mid-length/depth swivel sockets coming anytime soon?

Affordable 3/8 drive metric impact socket set?

I have had HF (1/2") now sunex. Also had 3/8" HF, grey pnuematic, astro (nano) and now sunex. I gave my HF away, they worked ok. I sold my grey pneumatic standard and deep set for sunex. The sunex are a thinner wall that gets in places the HF/grey didn't. The sunex mid length/depth are probably...

A few size comparison pics of the xc 5.0 vs forge 6.0; my HO 6.0 my brother in law is borrowing or I'd throw it in there. The forge is not quite as long has the HO, which is a good thing. I do wish it had the same footprint as the xc.

if you had to pick just one battery Milwaukee m12 ratchet which would you pick?

M12 ratchets aren't good for rusty fasteners. It'll constantly stop trying to run them on/off. You'd want m12 impact or even an impact driver with an adapter.

3/8 and 1/2 Impact Socket Overlap - Where to draw the line?

In that case 8-22mm 3/8" sets, and individuals of the sae sizes that don't overlap. Plus whatever misc sizes in 1/2" you need. If rust isn't an issue.

3/8 and 1/2 Impact Socket Overlap - Where to draw the line?

    Milwaukee Power Tools Deal Permathread

Probably. But I figured I'd eventually end up with another as kit deals are not uncommon. I have given away (or sold with tool/battery) all my m12 chargers.

    Milwaukee Power Tools Deal Permathread

Yeah, we can hope. I justified it in my head as a deal, even if it doesn't seem like much of one. I have no cordless grinder and wanted the new batt for the new impact. Also wanted an extra charger to leave at my sisters/brother in laws place.
