Sorry, at work we refer to OD sized copper tubing as refrigeration tubing. You're correct.

If you want an undersized line I guess. 1/2" OD tubing would equate to 3/8" copper plumbing.

A little anti seize or pipe dope can help on the threads of a tough sealing union. More so to get a little more spin on the collar without galling the threads than the sealing properties. Also helps when loosening the collar down the road.

1/2" copper is 5/8 OD and shouldnt fit inside of it. 1/2" OD copper tubing is a refrigeration size and shouldnt be used for plumbing. My money is still on 1/2" npt threaded joints

You sure it isnt 1/2" NPT? Std pipe sizes are nominal, not OD. The compression fittings may be refrigeration sizes for copper tubing and not NPT

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm building the same size shop, yet backwards of yours, so my wife can park in our attached garage for the first time ever. Good luck with the build. Im looking forward to the updates.

Run 1". 1/2" is an adequate size for one fixture less than 20'.

I'm having a 30x24 built this summer. We are using 30' attic trusses with a 10/12 pitch so we have a 14-6 x24 room up top and everything looks proportional to the house

I was just approved by my local zoning authority for a 30 wide, 24 deep garage with an attic. 10' ceiling and a 10/12 pitch gives me a 14-5 x 24 room up top. I'm having the stairs built on the back side so I don't loose any space inside.

If you're close to the house, put a hose bib outside the garage. You can run a hose from the house to the hose bib on the garage and you have live plumbing. Kinda like a motorhome.
