    The best thing to do is tell them asap you went another direction and why. There's nothing worse than waiting to hear back on a bid and never hearing a word.

    I'm leaving the painted t1-11 as the siding for now. When we restore the outside of our house, I'll make the garage match. It's just up in the air right now.

    The downside is transportation and the need for a telehandler on site. We are in town but a fairly rural area. The builders shop is 2 miles down the road.

    My daughter turned her garage into a guest bedroom. Nice epoxy floors with a huge rug over it and the garage door was replaced with a doorwall.

    The shell of my garage is right at 50. I'm guessing the 25 covered materials and the next 25 covers labor. I definitely wouldnt have done it for something more expensive.

    What in the world are you stick welding in your shop? Mig or tig would be way less smokey and dirty and way easier on your floor

    I did 50% up front and 50% when complete. More risk for me up front but more leverage to take care of punch list items for me near the end of completion. Not ideal for a larger scale job but was fine for me at the price point of my garage and a well known local builder.

    I would be happy if everyone just included the size of their shop in the title. I agree though, I'm way more interested in looking at average sized shops.

    Progress pics from the builder today. The trusses are still a couple weeks out but they are building and painting the walls in his shop.
