    2019 Garage Sale Thread

I finally got to be THAT guy. You know the guy. He's the guy we all hate. We get to a sale and find one or two awesome pieces and ask do you have any more of this? I did. I had a guy come by earlier and he bought a bunch of stuff. Yep, that was finally me. Almost all Snap-on with a...

How many power tool brands do you use?

I have 2. Dewalt and milwaukee. I don't seem to have any issues, and frankly as badass as I am I can generally only use one tool in my hand at a time. but if you're worried about it get one these battery adapters.

    Moving Large Box

No top straps. A box is not a car. Don't strap it down like one.

What is your "go to" ratchet.

Frankly it's the Milwaukee M12 Ratchet. It's amazing. but if you're talking regular ratchet, it would be the Snap-On 3/8 Locking Flex-Head Ratchet, but I have added a thumb spinner, and a locking extension on it...

    Moving Large Box

We moved my triple bay double box with a ramped trailer. bought it from an old mechanic. I had been prepping the for this moment for years. I had all kinds of ideas on come-alongs, straps, cables etc. I was about to explain how we needed to do it to my son, when the old guy said, 'No Need to...

DIYers, how often do you use the correct tool?

I HAVE to use the right tool. Because if I use just anything to do the job when I am out buying tools I can't justify buying the new tool since I COULD just use what I already have. And I HAVE to have a new tool. that's the rule. Besides, using right tool is just easier, even if I do have...

    My Rotozip died

I have found that nearly every other tool vendor at the flea market has one of these. Finding a used one should be pretty easy. It's funny you mention this tool, as I saw the 3rd one of the day this past Saturday, I began to wonder if they were giving them away at some point for there to be so...

    Show your new tool arrivals

For the love of god whatever you do, don't ever take it apart! They are NOT like the other ratcheting screwdrivers. IT took me many days to get mine back together.

    Information on Tool Box

I think I would keep looking. Some off brand, no-name box. That will be tough, if not impossible to get parts for. Plus several of the drawers are not closing. And that bottom right drawer on the top box... something is wrong with it...bent or something. the middle drawer on the right of...

Anyone use adapters to other brand batteries?

I see the advertisements for the adapters on ebay via FB. I was also curious if anyone had tried them yet. some even have a built in USB port so you can easily charge your phone off them. Handy.

    Newbie with blown breaker

I am pretty sure. This was an addition to the house. Everything in the room is on the one breaker. I will do a more thorough search of surrounding outlets and lights etc. The breaker sparked. Freaked me out. Never seen that before. I believe the breakers are 'Eaton' brand. Original...

    Newbie with blown breaker

Went into a room to find the breaker had blown. Went down, flipped it back, it sparked and immediately flipped again. Unplugged everything in there was plugged in. Went to flip the breaker again. Again it immediately flipped back. Breaker has overhead ceiling fan, 4 outlets with the...

    2019 Garage Sale Thread

I was actually an early bird for the first time. $40. thought it was a steal. Now I am regretting it. some drawers are tough to open. One drawer where it holds the slide is cut, and the slide on the other side is damaged. One drawer on the bottom does not open at all.

Snap on F 710-A broken ratchet

There is really not point to your ratchet. you can't buy the plate. Unless you're awesome, you would be able to make, drill, and tap a new plate, and buying another ratchet that already has the plate for the plate, would put you in the same position you are already in now with the new ratchet...

    Adding Magnets to Socket Rails?

I like my oldschool craftsman style rails. They are manufactured with a FLAT bottom and I do place magnets in my box and set the rails on them so the sockets stand up. Works really well for me.

Desperate for help with a 1993 Matco box!

That's freaking awesome! Great job. With all the boxes out there I almost never see parts for them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Coating tools after rust removal

There is a loooong research thread on a couple of dozen different gun oils. All of them put through the ringer and thoroughly tested. the winner? Frog lube. I also use it myself on my guns and my tools. Works awesome. Not only is it non-toxic, it actually smells great, and doesn't leave...

Going Rate for Gently Used Quality Toolbox? .50 on the Dollar?

The garage sale might actually be better for you. When someone reads Craftsman box and sees yours it would be easy to quickly scroll by thinking it is one of the old standard ones that are 17" deep and 20" wide and keep going. but to see it in person would give it a better sense of scale. you...

Going Rate for Gently Used Quality Toolbox? .50 on the Dollar?

Here in the philly/baltimore/DC area you're looking at starting at $500, and taking less probably. There are just too many Matco/Mac boxes and some basic older Snap-on boxes selling for less than $1,500 around here.
