The Official Stall Mat Discussion Thread & Gallery

Not sure I would want to breath burning rubber fumes. I've got a few of these in one area of my shop, tile over the machining and auto area and a bare spot for welding/plasma.

High Output Smart Three Way Switch

I would use a Shelly myself and hook the dumb switches to it. That's how a bunch of my the way switches are hooked into my home automation.

Fan setup to help with heat

I have a new plan. I was planning on an air filter for the wood shop anyways and found an air mover (with sealed motor)that shoves around 3000cfm. Having it blow down through a box of air filters should (based on rough calculations), pull air in from the ceiling and diffuse it out nicely. I...

I have a kit and extra line ready to go in waiting and eat to measure and confirmed before posting.

    Overhead doors .....long lead times.

I got lucky and we found someone in budget if I dropped all the nice finishing touches and selected the right model. Otherwise longer lead time and around 180% the original cost

    Overhead doors .....long lead times.

I've seen it mentioned several times in construction threads. I think I even stated my lead time in a couple places. Its bad. The Texas ports are tiny compared to LA/LB and its a long way around to get there. Panama Canal is backlogged now as well. Then you have to get cargo frames and...

Fan setup to help with heat

I should have added, the overhead door won't be installed until late winter, almost spring. So the heater will be setup near the tarped door which will also ensure fresh air flow into the building. If I feel that's not enough there are a couple windows and 2 other entry doors I can crack. I...

Fan setup to help with heat

I'm going to be using a kerosene heater in the new shop this winter and I was thinking that with 13' side walls a couple fans hung up high might be nice to keep the hot air circulating, hopefully cut back on the run time to keep the bottom warm. building is 32x50. Right now my thinking is to...

How to bring dumptruck load of dirt to backyard?

weight (pounds or the p in psi) and pressure (pounds per square inch) are related but the pressure put on concrete is in PSI and based on the size of the contact patch (in square inches or the si part of psi). What the concrete can bear is also measured in pressure (3000 psi is typical)

    36 x 44 or 36 x 56: Which to build? And a question on roof pitches/cost:

If you polish the concrete get some sort of grip promoter on it IMO. My built in in polished and I felt like I was going to die every time I walked in with wet feet.

    Concrete PSI?

Now days they cut control joints then refill if you want a perfectly smooth floor. The really old places I worked had monolithic slabs but the really new buildings have had 12' squares with grout.

    Woodpeckers are destroying my barn!!!

Pidgeons are on that list as well. As well as pheasant. Basically all invasive birds.

    36 x 44 or 36 x 56: Which to build? And a question on roof pitches/cost:

I'm using LED light fixtures in T8 format. Running multiple rows into different switched zones.

You'll want to check that lighting in the forum just to be safe. I can't figure out if bad lighting is worse than not enough space or if it just feels that way when you have bad lighting.

    Practical uses for 3d printer

There are A LOT of different filaments on the market with more and more specialized blends every month. I've printed everything from PLA to ABS to Polycarbonate (both pure and blended) along with many variants of carbon fiber added. Pick your filament for the purpose not because its what's...

    3D CAD

The deal they have kinda washes out vs being fantasic. However Solidworks is now offering a "Maker" license for a really reasonable amount ($99).

    Practical uses for 3d printer

Custom tool holders (vertical wrench organizers that snap together) and organizers for my medicine cabinet (custom spacings to fit my stuff in my drawers and cabinets instead of generic things). Its really about understanding the material is stronger than you think if you're dialed in OK and...

I printed a manifold for flood coolant on a mill and metal forming dies on an Ender, not sure what you mean.

    John sterling heavyweight track shelving.

The hang track actually lowers the capacity vs screwing the standard directly to the wall. Even so that's a ton of capacity for home storage. But the hang track is just another expense (which is probably why they went to only advertising the capacity with it). I'm not far from where these are...
