    Hydraulic Fluid cleanup

I actually tossed a bunch of saw dust on it as soon as it was discovered just so it would soak it up and prevent a bigger mess. I guess my instincts are good.

    Hydraulic Fluid cleanup

Does anyone have a recommended way to clean hydraulic fluid out of a truck bed and off the bumper? We had to transport a broken cylinder to the dealership to try and match it with a new one and it leaked out all over the bed of the truck it was riding in and has made a hell of a mess. Dawn dish...

    Knife sharpeners

https://agrussell.com/knife/AG-Russell-V-Sharpener-Ceramic-Large-with-Walnut-Base--CS94 I have this, the optional diamond rods, a steel and ceramic steel, and a razor strop. I also have whetstones for other applications; but for my kitchen, pocket, and hunting knives this is what I reach for...

    Recommendation for Oscillating Multi Tool

I have an irrational hatred of more than 1 battery platform for some reason, so I would stick with Milwaukee. I have the M18 and it's done everything I've ever asked of it and more. I might get the 12 volt now, but at the time I didn't have any M12 tools so I stuck with what I had and ran with it.

    US General/ Yukon?

Yukon is lighter duty and the price and construction reflects that. It has thinner sheet metal, lighter slides etc. The USG isn't a professional technician box, but it's adequate for about 90% of what we do as tool hoarders and DIY guys. I'm in the same boat trying to find a used or clearance...

    School me on Knipex pliers/wrenches

I'm the opposite here, I have had so many traumatic experiences with Crescent wrenches I will hardly touch one now. I'm sure most of that is the fact I've almost always been out in the field, working on something that was rusted beyond repair, and did not have any better options at hand that has...

    School me on Knipex pliers/wrenches

Just buy them you won't be let down by them. I have given my dad and brother both a set as gifts and they're fans. I don't use mine in automotive work much, but I love them around the house and on plumbing projects. I probably could use them more on automotive repair but I typically reach for a...

    I Love Stubby Ratchets

I don't think I have a stubby 1/4" in my arsenal, but working on my wife's F'n Prius sold me on the idea of stubby tools in general and now have a few different options in 3/8" drive along with shallow sockets, stubby combos, and screwdrivers etc. I hate that car but I like the fact it gave me...

Who made these Craftsman vise grips and when?

Hey if it was good enough for Bob and good enough to wear the Craftsman name it was good enough for all of us.

What’s your minimum handyman style toolkit for unexpected stuff at other people’s houses?

I have a bucket boss on an old 5 gal bucket with my general household tools and my carpentry belt in it. Seems to work fine for most stuff outside of plumbing repairs. But there is no reason I couldn't toss a 10" pipe wrench in there either.

Watch the area up here NE of MHK too. All those trailer companies surplus off fab equipment fairly regularly.

I’d be willing to bet you can find a good sized shear being put to pasture as surplus in the ICT pretty easily.

    Sharpening a step drill bit?

I guess you could file, stone and strop them. I just circle file them and get new ones even though it hurts. I kind think of them as consumable items.

    Harbor Freight still sells junk

Honestly, the cotter pin and PTO/linchpin kits are kind of handy since they are soft. You know it's gonna fail before the gearbox or driveline gets ruined. But I agree, pick and choose that Storehouse stuff carefully if it is mission critical.

    Sawstop patent evergreening?

Were they claiming trade dress? Jeep made a big stink about that a few years ago when Mahindra started importing the Roxor into the states.
