    Switch Plate & Receptacle Covers

I did mine in 3M dinoc film, looks like carbon fiber but is a heck of a lot cheaper. http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com/ This was purely for the humor:

Wife told me I "had to" buy a garage A/C

Got the A/C in, and I gotta tell ya, so far this thing is great! I have it sitting on top of the workbench now since I don't have enough hose to run it to the ground so the air is blowing over my head, but it cools the garage down and pulls out a lot of humidity. The outlet is 5", of course...

    Garage Wall Color scheme?

Here is mine. The bottom is light gray, hard to tell from this picture. The floor is gray epoxy. <a href="http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d54/scutchins/?action=view&current=IMG_0077.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d54/scutchins/IMG_0077.jpg" border="0"...

Has any one painted wood paneling?

A friend of mine painted the wood paneling in his basement. He primed it, probably with Zinsser 1-2-3, and painted it with flat. It looks fine from far away but up close you can definitely tell that it was paneling.

Wife told me I "had to" buy a garage A/C

So how do you guys really feel about HOA? :bounce: I live in northern Virginia so the reality is that any house we wanted was in an HOA, so be it. Well, not entirely true as I wanted a house on 10 acres that was fairly far out, but any house that the wife would realistically live in is in an...

Wife told me I "had to" buy a garage A/C

The big problem comes from the home A/C running so much that the rest of the house is freezing cold. I put a big ventilator fan in the door to the garage which does an okay job of equalizing garage and house temperatures close to it, but the rooms farthest away from the garage get very cold...

Wife told me I "had to" buy a garage A/C

Yup, 3-car and only 21x28! Our last house had a 2-car with one large door. I could pull my truck in and still have enough room to work at the 2-1/2' deep workbench. After pulling the truck into the new house I have enough room to walk in front of it without rubbing against the wall but that's...

Wife told me I "had to" buy a garage A/C

I plan on only putting the vent up when I'm in the garage and actually using the unit. If I permanently mounted it then I would probably put some bars over the window, either inside or outside (I'm sure HOA would frown on that too.) The opening is so small that just screwing the window in...

Wife told me I "had to" buy a garage A/C

My wife calls me into the living room where she is doing bills. She tells me that our July electric bill went up nearly $200 because I've been keeping the door open from the house to the garage, to cool the garage down, too much. She then tells me that I "have to buy a garage air conditioner."...

    Cordless Drill Recomendation

I'm a huge fan of Bosch. Their 14.4 compact tough model is surprisingly powerful and nice and light, and their 14.4 brute tough has a 1/2 chuck which is nice. I currently have an 18v hammer drill of theirs that is amazing. I do hear good things about Panasonic though but have no personal...

    Drilling concrete

It's been a couple of years since I dabbled in building codes, and I'm not sure you are worrying about being to code or not, but I don't believe tapcon screws are to code anyway, I believe you have to use either ramset nails or lag bolts with anchors. For your 10' wall I would buy the cheapest...

Patching Hole in Drywall wiht drywall screen

I tried that mesh stuff once and absolutely hated it! It is so much easier to square up the hole, cut a piece of drywall to fit that hole, and then back it with some 1x or even a strip of drywall (I prefer 1x myself.)

    My garage helper

Here is my helper. He pulled a stool over by himself, looked under the hood, and then went over to my toolbox and grabbed a rubber mallet to "fix Daddy's truck."

    Some cheap garage bling

So you can both the front and rear wheels off. I used to race, and would take the wheels off at the track and have the vendors put tires on right there.

    Some cheap garage bling

I know the guy who owns carbonfiberfilm.com. He wanted to take some pics of the di-noc film on my motorcycles so he could put them on his site, so he came over the other night. We had some leftover so hey, while you're here, how about I do some cover plates. I think it looks awesome...

    Freakin Flies

Agree with this a billion times over, in fact just yesterday hung one outside. We had one in the backyard of our old house, kept it hanging by the trash cans/doggie waste can and it worked wonders. Lately we've had large flies getting into the house by way of the garage door so I hung one...

    VA Garage Gang

If anyone is interested, the United Rentals in Sterling has aluminum road signs on clearance for $5. They have maybe 20 left, they have Visitor Parking, No Parking, and one or two others. These are the real aluminum ones, maybe 12x24" or so. I grabbed 3 while I was there renting an auger...

How hard to drill MaxJax Post holes in concrete?

If you see this as an excuse to get a cool new tool (as I always do with any project) then go buy a Bosch Bulldog rotary hammer, they run about $200 at Lowes and will simply crush any "hammer drill" you can buy. They use SDS+ bits, which aren't cheap, but you can knock out those holes in no...
