Having trouble justifying 3/8" impact gear

I have 3/8" metric sockets, I use the 3/8" impact when I'm working on my motorcycle. It seems to work just right for that application... Otherwise it's 1/2" on the cars or 1/4" on general stuff..

How did you choose your "battery platform"?

I started out with Black and Decker, the Matrix system of tools. It's not bad tools, but not great either (too many compromises). I also bought into the WORXS platform too (just have a blower and a weed eater) Otherwise I sold the B&D and moved on to the Milwaukee M12 line.. No regrets at...

Hi there everyone hope all is well, how did everyone get into collecting tools ?

I really didn't have that many tools around when I was growing up, I had a custom cutting crew that lived across the street from me and that's where I started to get interested in tools and wrenching. The tools we had were old and not the greatest. but they worked from time to time, my old man...

What do you think of Harbor Freight tools?

I've only had 2 bum steers from HF thru the years, a bit set that was pure **** and so soft that the screw actually stripped the bit, and a ratchet that I destroyed installing new shocks on my Sonoma (which they happily exchanged for a new one). I will admit, they do have a lot of cheap **** in...

Tips for Getting Better Prices at Local Parts Stores

The local NAPA here used to charge us cost + 10% when I was at the Case/IH store and used to get parts for the shop (so did the local Carquest, but they had better payment terms for us), and he used to charge the employees at the store I was at cost + 15% for any and all parts we bought for...

    I'm through buying Milwaukee tools..

I say I'm done, but I know better...... I have limited funds and a tool has to earn a place in my shop, it's all about use and value to me. I had a shop teacher who swore by Milwaukee tools and that stuck with me. So even with limited funds, these are an investment that saves me money in the...
