    Thoughts on angle grinders?

I have the Milwaukee Fuel grinder, and it needs at least a 6.0 battery to be useful. I also have several other corded grinders, including Metabo, Milwaukee, Bosch, and others. For a Fab shop with access to 120V power I’d be looking at the upper end Metabo or Bosch grinders with the vibration...

    What’s your favorite snow shovel?

I use a middle grade Garant pusher shovel for our lighter snows. Great value and they last a few seasons and do a good job getting to asphalt for me. Otherwise I have a few different metal edge throwing shovels, they are ok, but if I need them I am firing up the snowblower.

    Woodworking Tool Kit - Suggestion/Critique

If I was doing it again I’d buy the 6” Festool Rotex or Bosch equivalent to start. I know it seems like a lot of coin, but there really is a huge huge difference difference. The off-the-shelf home center style sanders leave a ton of room to be desired. It’s like going back in time to vibrating...

    Woodworking Tool Kit - Suggestion/Critique

Reading the replies you already have it looks like most of the bases are covered, I’m all for a full shop setup, but I know that unless you do a ton of similar woodworking projects and just kit up for them there are tools that will sit for long periods of time. I am heavy in the track saw camp...

Hey you guys pick heavy stuff up… what do I do with this thing?

What is the plan? Most railroad shops use huge bottle jacks and cribbing or large gantry cranes. For your purposes I’d guess cribbing will be your friend, but moving the big parts without a forklift or serious material handling gear is going to be difficult to down right dangerous. I take it...

    Let's see your toolbox.

And the tool cart that really needs to be replaced with a full bank cart.

    Let's see your toolbox.

The old 42” USG with side cabinet gor overflow space.

    Let's see your toolbox.

Here is my USG 56” - still need to work through the screwdriver drawer. Not sure I’ll ever be happy with the deep bottom drawer either.

    Show your new tool arrivals

I had an exhausting time a while back getting my e-brake set on my Silverado, saw these in one of Mike‘s threads and quested after a snap-on one from ebay. Still have yet to need it…

Are tool truck sockets “worth it” for the professional?

One of the recurring themes I keep seeing over 8 pages is breakage. I could probably count on one hand how many sockets I have broken in my life. And this is a guy who wailed away on a nice chrome SK deep socket set for a decade or more with impact wrenches. Drive wallowed, sure, broken, nope...

Are tool truck sockets “worth it” for the professional?

Agree, right there with you in northeastern Pennsylvania. When I started wrenching the thought of spending snap on money when 100+ piece tool set from craftsman could do a lot of the work was impossible. That’s said, a professional who ponies up for snap on sockets out of the gate will likely...

Are tool truck sockets “worth it” for the professional?

I was reading through the thread, and eating my popcorn as the Snap-on against the world discussion popped off. I have had the pleasure of using some really crappy Craftsman and import sockets over time. Depending on the job sometimes they work sometimes they don’t. Very rarely have I ever...

Good Choice? SKIL Table Saw, Yes or No

I’d be interested to see how it does with the 8” Dado stack. I have always run 6” sets on smaller saws, or when that was all I could afford. That said, unless you need really deep dados or rabbets, a smaller diameter cutter saves load on the bearings and motor. I have a Bosch 4100 and have run a...

New Toolbox search-Husky Heavy Duty vs Craftsman V Series vs US General

I have the 56” US General from last years 12 Days of X-Mas deals. I really like the box, but everything above is true, the latches ****, so I either delete them or gripe about them, the drawer layout is great on the upper end, but the lower drawers are too deep and don’t make sense for my tools...

    Meme Tool Purchase

I picked one up today, was close to HF around opening time. Did have a pile of them, expect they will be gone by the end of the day. Seems decent for the $$$. I have an older Gearwrench set with a mini ratchet that takes 1/4 and 5/16 bits, but it is not flex head. I can see the utility in small...

What is the normal amount of grease on new Milwaukee track saws?

Like the group said, not an issue, wipe excess and put to use. The spring seems excessive, but it’s probably more for protection in shipping than lubrication in use. Good saw, enjoy!

    Lisle.....Are you a fan?

I agree with the duds vs winners comments. My first experiences were with the torx bits from the Lisle section at sears. They flat out sucked, especially in the larger sizes. I avoided them for years after that mess, the bits weren’t cheap, and eventually all off them disintegrate in use. I have...

Dewalt 780 miter saw kicks back

Ideally, I’d ask you to describe what you mean by kickback. Given the geometry of a miter saw with the correct blade it is unlikely to behave like a traditional kickback to push the saw out of the cut. If the work is supported on a stand and all is relatively flat the only thing that can cause...

    Armstrong medical carts

My dad had two dental boxes when I was a kid. Solid construction but drawers were smaller as expected for smaller instruments. Similar to a typical Kennedy machinists chest. With value line toolboxes at HF and the big boxes I’d be hard pressed to go that direction unless I had a bunch of...
