Tool-type things have been a little slow in the land of the buffalo. The hills and mountains are greening up, the streams are moving, and most normal folk in SW Montana are spending the majority of their free time drowning feathers and fur tied to small hooks, a pastime we refer to as “fly...

I haven’t been able to make it out as much as I would like (working the mid shift makes extracurriculars a bit challenging at times) and so I am living vicariously through you all! Catching up, however, 2 recent hauls netted the following: Snap On 1658 Pinch Bar Snap On 1/2 x 3/8 deep socket...

@Smokeshow69 , do you have a current needs list for that board? If not, I’ll go off the pic… I may be able to close a few gaps for ya. Best regards, John

Don, interestingly enough, a pebble 1240 acquired at a flea in Columbia, SC is what started me on the Plomb pebble journey. The set is by no means finished, but we’re making progress. Best regards, John

That definitely lowers the chances of encountering one in the wild… definitely a unicorn-level search! I spent a fruitless hour or so last night coaming through catalogs trying to find them and came up with bupkiss. Your post at least provides a bit of closure on that front. Best regard, John

I wonder if it would be possible to put a GMTK together using Wright Field labeled tools. I've got a WF-40 1/2 Speeder and a box of random WF's... Hmmm.

Has anyone ever figured out where the 61** wrenches fit in the Proto numbering system? I’ve got a bunch of Challenger wrenches all numbered thusly, but have 2 wrenches with prominent Proto branding and no Challenger marks both numbered within the 6100 system like the top wrench in Saukit’s photo...

A little of both. I’ve got a 100lb tank pigtailed into the selector valve that had 15 or so pounds but too cold to pressurize. Where I utterly failed to be properly prepared was in allowing the 2 mounted 30lbers to run empty prior to switching to the big tank… lesson learned.

Ah yes, the RV life... A Covid-related job loss in Spring '20 necessitated our rapid relocation from Alaska, and led to the purchase of a rather large pull-behind trailer with room for 4 plus a 100 lb. dog. We ended up nomading our way across 29 states and untold job applications before landing...

I've been on the hunt for Plomb/Plvmb ratchets for a while and have managed to pull a handful of 5449s but thus far have struck out in the 3/8 and 1/4 arenas. Sunday, while out of town (details in the 2022 Garage Sale thread) I stumbled across a Plomb LA 5251 with a 4B date stamp, a model that...

Happy New Year, my picking friends! ...and for your voyeuristic viewing pleasure, a little back story to the current post: Living full-time in an RV in SW Montana in winter leads to an almost unconscionable consumption of propane. Propane, let it be known, that never runs out in all-and-sundry...

Blue cardboard. They may have actually been included in the early blow molded plastic as well, but I cant say with any certainty. I’ve got a few of them and can attest that they fulfill their intended purpose. V/r, John
