What did you do "IN" your garage today?

2 days ago, an upper radiator hose on the Excursion. I swapped it out, leak was worse. The radiator has a crack on the upper inlet port, I did not see it even though I suspected the plastic tank could have been the issue. Easy work, but its in the 30s here and draining 5 gallons of coolant a...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Messed with this and that.. Wrapped up some cutting boards/ family gifts, used my heat gun to measure the heat on my new brand trying to find some consistency. I was burning some scraps in the fire pit, tried it to heat the brand..fail, not hot enough, back to the torch. I brand my stuff...

Craftsman drill press 103.23130 Restored - Gulf Livery

The GULF colors are a hard match. Not a lot of info/ color codes and there seem to be variations over the years. I did a Craftsman drill press in them as well with a matching foot pedal/ switch. Orange is pretty easy, dark blue..easy..it's that light blue color that is the challenge.

Home Depot/ Black Friday got me. Some updated Milwaukee tools to replace some aging drill and driver I have over tasked. The chuck in the drill hates me drilling metal or large bits in wood. Passing the old ones to my mom, perfect for the simple tasks she does around her house. The old ones are...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Unpacked some new tools, Home Depot/ Black Friday got me. My Milwaukee drill and driver are M18, but not the Fuel version, They are aging and the chuck in the drill doesn't like metal drilling or larger bits in wood. It was due to be replaced and has tested my patience recently. I'll pass the...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Worked on some cutting boards, a bit different design...planer ate one:bs: split a joint, which I figured was a possibility. I've sent the two pieces back through the jointer, glued and clamped it for a second try. No pics yet...

Help me finally pull the trigger on a router

Buy the one you want... otherwise it's a compromise and the one you wanted will still linger out there whispering to your heart. I have an old Porter Cable, it's monster, if I was in the market for a full size router..it would be the Bosch. I have a smaller Makita one too...the M18 fuel one is...

Wrapped up my hallway bench. It's walnut, Maple and White Oak. Few minor errors along the way, but nothing I couldn't salvage and figure out. I don't typically share my engineering and design plans, but I like most of ya'll, so I included pics of the engineering and design schematics.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

In the shop, sanding..lots of it. Benefit to living solo, I did the Tung Oil inside( temperature is swinging here day to night). Free bonus..higher than a kite and currently airing out the living room. OCD kicked in, 2 places to sand again, glue residue preventing the oil from taking and 1 snipe...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Last bit of bench work. Last glue up, the 3 pieces plus the SS rod. I'm glad I dry fit it and marked everything.. quite a bit to manage with glue, 3 wood blocks and 5 SS rods. Good bit of sanding ahead of me, then pick a finish. Pics no order..

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Some bench work. Final fitting the 3 pieces and SS rod for the shoe rack, finish that this eve after some more sanding. 24 - 3/8" dowels to finalize the connection between the seat and frame. There are 4 - 1" dowels in dual blind holes in each corner too. Pics no order..

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Wrapped up the T handle hex holders. Came out good enough for functional use. Everything was left over from other projects, so $0 directly invested. If I made another one, I'd just add a bit more space between the holes. Tested the brand on them too, Pictures no order..

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I certainly do. After a run with it tonight, I need to hit it with a temp gun and see the results to get an idea that is more accurate than heat radiating up into the handle :ROFLMAO:to get the desired result. I like the heavy burn, gives it a texture, lower heat and the details are unbelievable.

I'm going to consider it a new tool. I do a bit of woodworking to entertain myself after day light savings time/ winter keeps me away from boating/ fishing. I had a brand I made to mark my projects. It failed with the repeated use/ heatings. ( probably more so the materials and my welding)...
