    2020 Garage Sale Thread

I like the look of that Diamond monkey wrench. I used to ignore them. Now I know to look them over for stamping. As a kid, we didn't have many tools, but Dad had one of those that along with a cheap pliers was all I had to twist off my bicycle axle nuts to fix a flat tire. Discovering actual...

    2020 Garage Sale Thread

Outlaw, I like the hatchet, & absolute major suckage on the machinist box & other stuff. Things have slowed up in my neck of the woods. Yesterday I drove an hour to pickup a Starrett 4" level & a Crescent nail puller that I won through an online estate auction. I had bid on 10 other Starrett &...

Snap-on middle box.. Yep or Nope?

Ok, but yours has the key in the top drawer. You have to push the top drawer in & lock with a key in order for the drawer to stay all the way in correct? Otherwise it springs out about 1" or so. The one in the estate listing that I am looking at has the lock in the bottom drawer.

Snap-on middle box.. Yep or Nope?

Indeed, I probably will pass on the deal as any other drawer photos show stuff I have no interest in. And since this is an on line thing, no further inspection will happen.

Snap-on middle box.. Yep or Nope?

From a local estate sale listing: Being sold as two Snap-on boxes. I have never seen a middle box with the key on the bottom tray. Also no Logo plate. Middle box has more depth than the top box. So is the middle box Snap-on?

    2020 Garage Sale Thread

It's a rainy Thursday morning and I have already looked at Craigslist & Facebook to see that there are no worthwhile yard sales to travel to this weekend. Is this what Joe Biden meant when he referenced a "Long Dark Winter"? Luckily last week I brought home several minivan loads from 2 separate...

    Mechanic's "Ten Commandments" And Tips

jimmy12345678, I wish you were closer so I could visit your shop when I can't tackle or figure out my own repairs. BrandoJames, I try to use shops that are small enough that I can actually talk to the guy doing the work before and after. I like to get answers to questions like "Is there...

Recommend a flashlight for a farmer

You need 2 flashlights (just like you always need 2 chainsaws) Headlamp. It is looking where your eyes are pointed. Then whatever cordless platform you have (dewalt milwaukee) get one of their led spotlights for directing traffic around your broke down combine in the middle of the road.

Jim, as a guy that until covid hit has made most of his living for the last 40 years in the music biz, I'd be curious to hear the name of the mixer. Any cool old microphones or vintage rack mount gear in the stash? A home studio?

These last two weekends were pretty busy & I haven't had time to sort & clean. Here are 3 highlights. I stopped at a garage sale that was mostly Longaberger baskets & yard tools. An old fella was sitting behind the table in front of an old Mac box. I asked him if he had any mechanics tools He...

I see Lugz & several others already have the Treadle sewing machine belt tool 119-6. Here is mine I dug out of the dollar box this weekend. I had no idea what it was, but recognized the parallel jaws right away. As a kid (now 66yrs) we had my grandmother's Singer treadle machine sitting on the...
