Thanks mate! That certainly is a compliment coming from a Ford guy!

It looks as though they're going to tow it back to me so I can pinch back all the accessories before it goes to the wrecker, which is nice. I'm very happy with both the shield and the wheels. Now to go and get some battle scars on the shield and definitely not get any kerb scars on the wheels...

I purchased a 5m Bell tent at the end of 2019 but only got to use it once before the world went to hell. However, I replaced the tent pegs with long coach screws with washers and took a cordless driver with me. It was much easier to put them in and take them out this way than traditional pegs...

Just keep in mind... an LSA crate motor isn't all that much more expensive than an LS3! :lol_hitti

I finished the edging on the new shield. The fact that the rawhide shrinks as it dries can be used to help with the process of getting it to wrap around the edge without wrinkles. I bought quite some number of new spring clamps for this very project. :lol_hitti I'm happy with them, they're very...

On the 2nd of December, on the way to school in the Hilux, I got T-boned on a roundabout by a dweeb with no insurance, driving a large 4WD. It was his fault, he should have given way. No one was hurt. It was a big hit. I did a 180. The body of my cab was mangled and the whole tray was bent. The...

Hey mate. I've done some plane restoration/tuning with the grumpy old men's woodworking group I'm in (called the Traditional Tools Group). The blade needs to be re-ground on a bench grinder, without question, then honed on a stone. The lever cap ought to be fine but the cap iron will need to...

That's rough as guts. A similar thing happened to someone I know in Canberra with a VE sedan recently but the thieves had mounted enough gutters with the car that it was a write off. His armour was in the boot when it was stolen and no sign of that either.

Hey mate. I'm teaching VET Construction. The students earn a Certificaste II in Construction at school, but it counts for two units towards their HSC at the same time. Thanks man, the shield is still waiting on me to fit the rawhide edge though. I ran all 14s. I was spinning my wheels a lot...

Straight after finishing the second week of Construction training, I went to Canberra for my niece's first birthday. I'm working on a timber toy car for her, but it's still in progress. The renovations are done at the dragstrip. I took the Commodore and had a blast. The track wasn't sticky yet...

The second week of Construction training went well. It was completely exhausting but really quite rewarding. At the beginning of the week, we cast some concrete samples that we smashed at the end of the week. :lol_hitti We put up formwork for a concrete slab for a house. We didn't pour this...

The past week, I've been attending training at TAFE for the Certificate II in Construction (which I've already been teaching for almost a year, but we'll ignore that). We made cubby houses which subsequently flat packed and got sent to community groups. The hotel accommodation and meal...

Thank you, gentlemen. Everything's a bit up in the air at the moment but I'm hoping it all comes together well. I've had a pretty good holiday. On page 3 of this thread (post #44), I included pictures from a trip to a friend's family's country property. This holiday, I went with him and two...

Today I went to a Traditional Tools Group workshop and sharpened a handsaw that I had already done a lot of clean up work on. It now cuts like a laser. A year or so ago, I went to the same workshop but I didn't quite get the hang of the process, this time I nailed it. Now that I'm a...

Brake upgrade is finally finished. I had to wait for parts to arrive on account of the fact the kit (disappointingly) didn't include the bolts that attach the calipers to the axles, which not only had to be longer than the originals but, according to the service manual, HAVE to be replaced with...

I've been getting some offers on the Hilux. I've turned down $15K and I'm in negotiation with another potential buyer who I told "$16K, final offer" and he still came back with $15.5K. I haven't decided yet whether to tell him to ****** off or not. The advertised price is $18K. Any thoughts? On...

I got the grunt work done on the big brake kit this weekend but there's still stuff to sort out. Battling the rain again (I won't learn). I didn't realise the front and rear brake lines were different and I installed two in the wrong spot, so they'll need to be swapped. I snapped one of the...
