It was a heatproof paint, so it doesn't surprise me that you say the curing temperature is above average.

This potentially could have been useful information, I'll keep it in mind for future. My decision not to heat cure the clearcoat was also influenced by the fact there are rubber parts in the calipers and I also searched and found that the firing temperature of powder coating (the original finish...

Painting these brake calipers has been a proper saga but it's (hopefully) finished now. I saw what the pottery kiln looks like at school and decided I'd rather not use it. I decided to just use the calipers with the clearcoat as originally applied, not heated to achieve full strength. Then I...

Last weekend, I ran the wires for the reverse camera in the Commodore. This involved removing the tub liner. While I was in there, I cleaned underneath thoroughly. It wasn't as dirty as I had imagined though. As far as the wiring was concerned, I distinctly gave myself the impression that I...

I was planning on getting new wheels and tyres at the same time for the Commodore after getting the big brakes sorted but that all ended when I had a tyre yeet itself out of existence. I'm planning on getting the same size wheels, so I just got high performance tyres on all four wheels straight...

I'm afraid you're mistaken, it's clearly on the right (hand) side. :lol_hitti

Thanks man! Too much! :( $2700 from here: https://vsport.com.au/product/ap-racing-4-piston-brake-kit-holden-vevf-commodore/ It would have been a bit less without braided lines but I figured the effort I'm going to to fit them warrants the use of all the good parts. Sounds shmicko. :thumbup...

I've been sorting out the wiring loom for a new stereo for the Commodore. It's ready to go in but I'm waiting for the reverse camera to arrive in the post because I'll be installing that at the same time. The existing head unit also controls the aircon, so there's a fascia that incorporates the...

I'm now most of the way through the first week of school holidays and I've been smashing out projects. First day of the holidays, I finished the crates I was making to go into the top of my wardrobe. I'm happy with how the modular dividers turned out. They can be stored flat in the bottom of...

Like others, I had a post disappear when the forum had a dummy spit. In it, I mentioned that I had been doing a concreting project with my Construction class at school. We made a concrete pad outside the entrance to the school gym. In the photo, the formwork is still on. Before the beginning of...

I got new wheel nuts for the Commodore. I'm planning on new wheels and better tyres too. The current tyres are total junk. But the nuts alone look good. Over several weekends, I've been working a little bit at a time on some plywood crates to go in the top part of my wardrobe. They're...

I was unsatisfied with the load restraints in the Commodore's tray because they're made of sheet steel and I envisioned them bending if I were fastening straps tightly. I replaced the torx head bolts holding them in place with stainless eyebolts.

Unfortunately this won't help you but The Traditional Tools Group buys citric acid powder in bulk and sells it on.

A week or so ago, I went to my Uncle's house and picked up some tools and odds and ends which had belonged to my Grandpa, including a large tote type toolbox and a drawer full of fastenings, which I have sorted and installed under one of my benches. The tools all went in the citric acid and...

Outside of the workshop I've upgraded my desk, which was long overdue and welcome. I've also had fun building some Lego sets. :bounce: The monster truck burger van was a Birthday present from my brother and it can be built into two other models, an offroad truck and a sled pull tractor. For...

All the cordless tools use the same type of batteries -inside- the large battery. You can get adaptors that allow you to use different types in different tools and it makes no difference to performance. The only one it doesn't really work with is Ryobi because it has the large post on the top of...

I've been chipping away at various projects. I'm now teaching online and all the students are learning from home. I'm working from home four days a week and going to school only one day each week. I've started cleaning out the timber workshop at school, which is a monster job. Amusingly, this...
