T S: you are correct about the obs. when it is painted some of the flakes of wood do swell and peel looking worse than unfinished. Great build! I got to get me some of those cabinet pulls for the rental houses, see if those @#$% renters can tear them up.

sounds like it will work well. i used 3/4" foil faced insulboard on ceiling of my shop(framed 2' o.c.), then 12" insulsafe 3. that was in 1992. also have a chrome ceiling that reflects light as a bonus.

from my experience never grease the tracks. grease attracts dirt. the door will work really well for who knows how long,but sooner or later ( usually when it's -3 and the snow is blowing) that grease-dirt combo will make your life miserable. the nylon rollers,yeaah!

From my experience finishing concrete over an existing slab at the same time you are finishing slab on grade is real pita, I'd rip it out. And 50' x 50' not big enough,go 50' x 100'.
