    Quality construction vs advanced design

I'm not a manufacturing expert, but my guess is for constant feeding of the headers - it continuously pulls from a large spindle of steel wire. The round shape probably helps too.. Steve

    Quality construction vs advanced design

Yes, I am referring to Danaher in general. Craftsman sockets are mainly manufactured by this method (cold forging) as well. Some lower volume sockets may be hot forged, but there is no powdered metal technique that I am aware of. Thanks, Steve

    Quality construction vs advanced design

We use cold forging for our higher volume sockets (both in Asia and US). These are large, highly mechanized headers that require significant up front investment. The input is steel wire, no powder. Our competitors use the same or very similar equipment depending on the volume requirements...

    Gearwrench non-ratchet box wrenches ****!

I apologize if I came across as disingenuous in my first post. Currently, we use a high-grade steel alloy - we aren't cutting any corners there. To make the box end stronger, the most viable option is to beef it up into more a standard box end from its current thin design. For those that...

    Gearwrench non-ratchet box wrenches ****!

The GearBox fixed box end is designed to be more of an access tool than a regular box end wrench. We designed it to have a zero degree offset and a thin box wall for tight spaces. We evaluated thicker designs that could withstand more torque, but our customer research valued access over...

    Channellock ratcheting wrenches

We don't make them. I believe it's trading company that has licensed the Channelock name and contracted with a Taiwanese OEM. Steve

    GearWrench 3/8"Drive Magnetic Extensions (review)

Yes, the magnetic stem of these drive tools is intended to be long to ensure close proximity to the fastener. The number one problem we are solving here is fastener retention in the socket. Surface contact on the fastener is a secondary concern as long as the specified ANSI torque can be...

Gearwrench (Taiwan) vs Craftsman (USA) ratcheting wrench

We're seeing production shift in some industries, but unfortunately it hasn't happened for tools. There's still too much labor in producing hand tools to offset the currency and transportation gains from domestic production. Steve

Gearwrench (Taiwan) vs Craftsman (USA) ratcheting wrench

We make Allen brand hex keys in both our Asia and US plants. If you like MUSA, I would encourage you to buy Allen from Industrial distribution (i.e. Fastenal). They stock the US version because that customer segment is more willing to pay the premium for it than the average consumer. As far...
