Small welding project, I built a dueling tree for taking to the gun range. I bought some CNC'd AR500 steel plates and built a "tree" for them that comes apart without tools. I took it to the range last week with my new Tavor X95 and had a blast. It works great!

$1500 bucks, watch for a deal in the summer for a "120" youth sled. They hold their value and pretty much run forever.

I can take pictures next time I'm there. I didn't build it so I don't have construction photos. What do you want to see? The "pulley" system I assume you mean the beam and rope on the outside? That is just for show, it doesn't actually do anything. hah!

    Show us your welding projects

I bought some new guns and paper targets get boring. I ordered some CNC cut 3/8 AR500 plates and brackets and then built a stand. I ended up buying some "receiver hitch" square tube so the angle iron fits snug and won't require tools to assemble and take apart. Hopefully I can get to the...

    Help with "man" lift

I have the worst luck sometimes. I borrowed a lift from a friend, he dropped it off in my garage so I can finish my ceiling. I'm tired of ladders. He said something was strange, the throttle control only seem to work if you pushed forward or backward about 7/8ths otherwise nothing would...

I finally had a day to sort through the free tools I found on FB marketplace. I started by separating the rusty from the dirty. I put the rusty stuff into the evaporust over night and put the dirty stuff into a degreaser mix. The rust came off everything pretty easily, I just wiped...

About a month ago my work was getting rid of some more sheet metal cabinets so I took 4 of them home. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them but figured I'd find a way to make them useful. I walked into the workshop and noticed the cabinets that I have been overloading and stacking...

How to move a big compressor?

Hey guys, Looking for ideas on how to get this thing home... It's about 7 feet tall and heavy, probably 750lbs. I have an F150 and a snowmobile trailer. Can you lay this on it's side or does it need to stay standing up for some reason? I'm pretty sure I can use my engine hoist to get it...

The exterior painting is moving along and looks great. It turns out a friend of mine had two of the same tire racks and gave them to me. I put them up yesterday and as dumb as it sounds I feel accomplished finally getting all the wheels and tires off the floor! The SWAG table came for my...

The garage was built in 2010 and the original paint job lasted 10 years. I had the paint cans from original builder so I just had the painter do the same colors for simplicity. I'm not sure if the original paint is severely faded after 10 years or the paint mixer messed up but I love the...

Compressor intercooler - Flexible line from pump head?

I've seen people using some kind of PTFE hose that you can crimp your own connectors on to make whatever sizes you want. I'm trying to find some of that so I don't have to use copper, mostly because I've never used copper and don't have any other use for it and need a flexible line to connect...

Some general questions on a new build...where to start?

Great list Craig! As far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't run any 15amp outlets in a working garage/shop. I did 20amps in all of mine.

I was able to sneak up to the garage for 48 hours this week. I've been dreading finishing the back of the garage since there is so much stuff packed in there. I cleaned it all out, moved the cabinets, took the tire racks down and you can't see under the stairs is my compressor and storage...

I need to preface this post by saying I've been watching you guys post crazy deals for years and I never find anything. Today, I scored big time! About 2 hours ago I was scanning facebook marketplace to waste some time. I scrolled past this ad: I noticed the Snapon box and was pretty sure...

    220v extension cord

Just buy a cord off ebay. I have one and it's way nicer than anything I could build. https://www.ebay.com/itm/25ft-8-3-AWG-MIG-TIG-PLASMA-WELDER-HEAVY-DUTY-EXTENSION-CORD-208-240-Volt-6-50P/172466136746?hash=item2827c866aa:g:ogwAAOSwnDpaE149

I'm kind of kicking myself for not playing around with it earlier. I can see how useful it is to basically build whatever you want. I thought the welding would be the hard part but it's the measuring/cutting/fitting/grinding/prep stuff that takes FOREVER. :bounce:

I've been practicing my welding skills, I picked up a bunch of steel in anticipation of building a "Steevo" workbench. We have a pontoon boat and instead of buying an anchor I built a small box anchor out of scrap. My welds are getting better, been watching a lot of youtube videos.

I got tired of knocking the speakers over so I welded up some brackets and hung those things on the wall. They actually sound better up high or I'm going deaf. lol It's been really nice out and I've been working with all the doors open.
