Streamlight Microstream USB. $30 on Amazon and it'll last a long time. 250 lumens (I believe) and a hat clip for hands free use.

    Dead Beer Fridge

You never want to tip or lay down a refrigerator when it's running. When off, you can absolutely lay down a fridge or freezer for transport. Just leave it sitting upright for at least a few hours before plugging it in. Both refrigerators in our house were laid down to transport them home and...

    Diy knockout holes

Every step bit I own has 7/8", 1-1/8", and 1-3/8" holes for 1/2", 3/4", and 1" conduit knockouts. 95% of the time I drill a pilot hole and use a Greenlee knockout punch for an easier and cleaner hole. Harbor Freight has a cheap kit that should do up to 1-1/4" conduit I believe.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Couple quick welding projects. Fixed an oblong hole in the post hole digger for the tractor. Welded a thick 3/4" washer on each side and hit it with some spray paint. Then I welded up two pieces of 5/8" rod I had laying around to make a soil probe to poke around for septic tanks and d-boxes.

    Ice Machine in your shop?

We have a Manitowoc in a kitchen at work, a Scotsman in a break room, and another Scotsman in the garage. Haven't had any major problems with any of them, but we keep them regularly descaled and maintained. Our HVAC guy has always preferred Manitowoc over other brands, and he's worked on...

How bad are Metabo HPT tools?

I think you'll be happy with them. I have the framing, finish, and pin nailers from right before the merger (branded Hitachi) and I wouldn't trade them for any other brand.

How bad are Metabo HPT tools?

I have a Hitachi grinder that's 10 years old and still going strong. I have the 18v framing, finish, and pin nailers from right before the Hitachi/Metabo merger and they're the best battery nailers I've used. Their 18-volt lineup has quite a variety of tools, it's just difficult to find some of...

Any tips to lift 300 cuft tank 4" onto cart?

Is the 4" due to a lip on the bottom? If so, just cut the the lip off. Otherwise, just roll the cart up to your truck when you get home from a refill/exchange, and tip it down off the truck right into the cart.

How to store a chainsaw without leaking

My Milwaukee battery saw hangs vertically on the wall - zero leakage. The two gas saws are stored in their plastic cases with a rag or pig mat under them. They leak a little bit but very minimal.

Basic HVAC Skills for Homeowner / Handyman?

Refrigerant is where the DIY line crosses over to "call a pro" territory, but there are many things you can do with tools you already have or a few additional purchases. Start with cleaning your A/C coils and straightening any badly bent fins - a can of coil cleaner and a fin comb are a couple...

    Safety rules

That's a good one that I follow as well. I almost always wear safety glasses regardless of what I'm doing, but I switch to safety goggles when weed whacking or working under a vehicle.

    Safety rules

I put on a pair of safety glasses when I go into the garage, and they stay on the entire time I'm in there. No chance of "oh this'll only take a second." I wear them pretty much all day at work as well. When I'm going under a vehicle, I swap them for safety goggles. No working around spinning...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I'm planning on that. One side of the tire had a tiny leak in several spots around the bead. Tire and rim are in great shape, just won't seal well. I'll bring it into work tomorrow to tinker with, should be slow on a rainy day.

    Weedeater for cutting brush?

I put a brush blade on my Milwaukee M18 string trimmer. Works great for cutting back brush along the edge of the yard. If I'm on the tractor sometimes I'll just drop the bucket with the toothbar and push it back.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Changed the gearbox oil in the rototiller, fired it up for a test run. Pulled the right wheel off - tire has a slow leak somewhere. Put up a metal shelving unit I got for free, and organized my various oils, coolants, and other fluids on that. Finally put up some hooks to hang my Werner MT...

How do you store your tools, hitches, & ratchet straps in your truck?

Tools, ratchet straps, recovery strap, and jump starter are in the storage compartment under the back seat. Hitches stay in their holder inside the bed of the truck.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Beautiful day so I pulled a bunch of stuff out to get ready for spring. Washed the tractor, car, and truck. Pulled the cab and snowblower off the riding mower and put those away, then got the mowing deck ready and put that on. Changed the oil and gearbox oil in the walk behind snowblower and put...
