    Painted label removal Folgers container

It's printing ink, not paint. You guys have no idea how hard it is to develop inks that adhere that well to plastic substrates. Printers devise torture tests & demand the longest possible adhesion in the worst substrates for ink to be on. Inks must excel in those conditions or they go to the...

    Quality corded drill recommendations?

I keep a 1/2" Makita in the toolbox. About 20 years old and can be a wrist breaker. It gets used occasionally. A corded tool is not as convenient as a cordless but is definitely more reliable & cheaper.

Hanging Metal Lettering Straight, True, Spaced, Plumb.

Many sign shops cut the letters out with a CNC router or laser cutter depending upon the material used. The board that they are cut out of then becomes the template for spacing them accurately on the wall. The variation of this idea on foam core or cardboard would work well. Even a roll of paper...

Cheapest Coolant for Metal Cutting (Water Soluble)

Get a gallon and have a supply for the next little while? It's a consumable that goes with the tool. You're going to need more of it, probably sooner than you think.

    Insulating concrete slab

Great questions! I'll follow along. I've pondered the same as it is not common to insulate the slab in our southern climate.

    Shop towels sustainability

Many years back I had quite a few of the non-dyed white rags that were used mostly for automotive work in the garage. I found out the hard way that putting them in the clothes washer makes a mess. For a few years I continued to buy them for the heavy cleanups and used paper towels for the light...

    Parts Cleaners in CA?

Industrial machinery is often cleaned with a dry ice blasting process. Cleans quickly and thoroughly. It might be cost prohibitive in a residential environment but is probably an option in California.

    Cement and winch

A simple D-ring bolted to the floor with concrete anchors and a come-a-long will easily pull a car into the garage up a slight slope. This has worked regularly in my garage for the last 12 years without issue. If I was building from scratch I would over-engineer like some of the pictured...

    Framing around LVL beams

The points are probably moot, that discussion took place 9 years ago. The building in question has, no doubt, weathered many storms.

    Help with downspout adapter please.

Lowe's in my area has the adapter that you need. I recently routed one of my downspouts in a very similar way using 4" PVC pipe. The pipe to downspout adapter was available for 3" & 4' PVC pipe. Worked great, was easy to install, and inexpensive.

Are nail plates normally used on 2x6 walls?

I get the feeling that the OP knows what he should do but doesn't want to do what is required. He would prefer us to tell him that all is well and that a hidden problem can be ignored with no negative results.:lol_hitti

Are nail plates normally used on 2x6 walls?

Time to make an inspection hole and see what you hit. The extra work it causes will give you piece of mind.

Let's talk insulation in non-climate controlled shops

My attached 2-car garage with west facing door was miserable in the summer before insulation. Still no climate control, but with R50 in the ceiling & R23 in the exterior walls (mineral wool) it never gets above 80* during the summer. The record cold temps recently with below freezing for 9 days...
