Can you identify this Lincoln welder?

This is a mig welder. This is Lincoln's answer to the "millermatic". It is a wire feeder and power source together. Never welded with one, but knew a paving company with one. I would say it is old and heavy, but I am sure it will weld nice. Keep in mind that older machines can have limited parts...

How many feel you're in a league of your own in your hood?

Re: How many feel your in a league of your own in your hood? I have been working on mowers since I was about 9. I learned how to work on small air cooled engines, which then taught me to work on larger gasoline engines, which further taught me about how a diesel engine works, and how to work on...

    small allen bolt removal

I have had to fight many a stubborn bolt, especially on Bulldozer undercarriages. Let me tell you, the oxygen acetelyene torch is your friend. Always heat the area around where the threads go in, not the bolt itself. Or heat the nut red hot then try it. If the hex is getting ugly, try a near...

My old LS Starrett vise Athol, Mass

I recently acquired this LS Starrett Vise from a neighbor. I've never seen one like it. What is it worth, and how old is it? It's in good shape. I think he got the thing from his uncle who worked for GM in Saginaw, MI. Might have brought it home in his lunchbox! Opinions?

    A snap on ratchet question

Yep. U.S. made Craftsman tools from my father. The holy Grail of quality affordable hand tools when you got started. Me too. Sure like those snap on tools, but they were so expensive I only have a few. That's me also. Sometimes though, Snap On is the only one to offer a specialized tool, so I...

Jack stands recommendation- Had a harbor freight failure

Recently, we got some new Chinese junker jack stands:soapbox: in our shop. The cast sliding piece never had the ratchet pawls true enough to latch securely. I ground each groove out, and only use these on light weight, non critical applications, and avoid using em. This junk shouldn't be allowed...

    These new "safe" gas cans

The new "safe" gas cans This is government mandated to us. We are no longer competent to use a gas can. After all, it is a complex process! The California Air Research Board (CARB) came up with this ingenious idea. The sad thing is, we are paying our government workers big money to make these...

Show off your WHOLE HOUSE GENERATOR.

I use my welder generator to backfeed into the garge, just like every other poor hillbilly on here! I also have a couple of smaller generators in case one fails, or I can connect them according to load. I like the concept of a automatic standby set, but I don't like not having a plug In case the...

Craftsman tools acquired by Stanley Black and Decker

I just read about this on the news. I was amazed as well as confused. With the stock in Sears going to hell, once stanley begins making them, where will they be sold? Will they be made in USA? Will they offer a lifetime warranty? And lastly what will the quality be? If anyone has the inside...

    Compressor drain

Craftsman Tools now made in China

I have always been a believer in Craftsman tools. They were all made in USA, and offer a lifetime warranty. And are affordable for a teenage boy to buy. No Brainer. Fast forward 20 years, now the bean counters at Sears decides to ship tool production to China. I refuse to purchase low quality...
