Options for 300' run to to-be-built shop?

Yes, yes (7' apart) and yes (not connected yet, but will be). I did a LOT of reading before starting. Perfect! Thank you!!!

Options for 300' run to to-be-built shop?

OK... progress. I have the first run in the ground (between the house and the covered area). None of the local suppliers carry 2/0-2/0-1-4 MHF, so I ran 4/0-4/0-2/0-4. I pulled the wire myself with a helper. It was a bit of a challenge to pull through 2" conduit, even with only two 90's and two...

    New Build pending, questions first

My plans are at the engineer at the moment, but his "standard" design for a 24' wide pole building (12/4 pitch, if that matters) specifies 6x6 posts 12' OC with an 18" diameter x 36" footer with 6 pieces of #5 rebar running through the bottom of the post to lock it to the footer. Mine will use...

    Engineering help

I was nearly in the same situation with a very similar design, although in FL the issue is stamped plans for 140MPH wind loads. Finally I met with a company a couple of hours away that sells pole barn "kits" in standard sizes. They referred me to the engineer they use for stamped plans for my...

    Size question

Don't rely on ballpark estimates for concrete. I met with my first concrete guy last night (48x50), and I'm still jittery from sticker shock. :eyecrazy: -OOE

Options for 300' run to to-be-built shop?

I'm the one that said "75," and I'll freely admit that I have WAY more questions than answers. :D

Options for 300' run to to-be-built shop?

I've noticed that any time someone says they need "100 amps," especially at longer distances, the response here is often to figure out what you need. 75 amps might be better than 60, but 100 would be overkill for me. The 300' would be broken into two parts, so it would be two 150' pulls...

Options for 300' run to to-be-built shop?

I'm in the late planning stages for a new shop build. Based on the actual path of the run, it will be right at 300' between the existing panel in our house to the location for the new panel. I'd probably be OK with 60 amps in the shop. Even though there will eventually be AC, and I will be...

    Recommended builders in Alabama???

No insulation needed under the concrete, but you will want a moisture barrier.

    (It's) Riding lawn mower time

Last year I bought a Cub Cadet ZTR with a fabricated deck for 1.5 acres. It's fast. I ordered their dual bagger for this model last Fall. Prior to this I used a leaf vacuum, and it would take every bit of two weekends to clean up after our live oaks twice a year. With this, it took about four...

Home Inspector strikes again Vol 3

Our 20-year-old house is under contract and the buyers had it inspected on Monday. The inspector found one item: a cracked exterior outlet cover - the one I'd forgotten was on the house. I replaced it for $3.76, and all is good. I'd gone over EVERYTHING before we put the house on the market.

Wall Mount opener with roof-line track question

I can't answer the track questions, but the springs act like a counterweight. An opener can't handle the weight of a door without the spring assist. Our two-car door was a two-man lift when the spring broke.
