In 2021 my mom had one installed. I do not recall the exact cost but it was $2,500 to $3,500 for the unit and installation. Additionally she had to have an electrical outlet installed. Great purchase and gives piece of mind.

Most of us have had some type of constraint when building our garages/shops. Plans look great. Enjoy it. Once you get used to the access into the garage it will be a less of a concern. Don't sweat the same stuff.

I think it is more about the last paragraph. I time some insurance companies do not want anything that is viewed as "an extra risk". I had a co-worker buy a house with a swimming pool (yes, it was within a fence). The insurance company that he had been with for years would not quote him...

In 1998 I bought my first house, it had a large detached garage with a wood burner stove in it. When I was getting my homeowners insurance, they clearly stated they would not cover any claims for the garage unless the stove was removed. I removed the stove.

Of course the car had to be outside. It was basically the Winter Solstice.

How old are the existing shingles? Siding? Hopefully getting it to match is not an issue.

Everything in Vegas is 2X to 4X normal price (hotel, food, etc).
