What Happened to Round Head Ratchets

My dads SK set from the 70's showed me the difference when I got my SO ratchets, round head is a pain to reverse, clunky, and just not as stiff when guiding a long extension. Of course I mostly use a sort of round head ratchet the most, the SO swivel head 1/4", it can be reversed with the thumb...

    A 16 year old's tools

You are lucky to be buying tools today, back when I was dropping big bills in the tool trucks eBay CL did not exist. Pre-internet!. What I would have been able to save!

    The White Shop

Light colored floors make finding dropped hardware easy, we have light grey in the hangar I work in. You don't notice the dirt, until the section next to you gets cleaned... We keep the new mechanics on the floor cleaner part of every day. Airplane owners are the same guys at the Porsche...

3M White Board & Chaulk Board Tape

Re: 3M White Board & Chaulk Board Tape I like the paint that makes any wall into a dry erase or chalk board better

Heating a detached garage in Maine

Gas or electric won't require one or more trips a day to refill the way pellets would. What fuels do you have in the house? If you have oil, do another oil, gas do another gas, electric is expensive.

    SpecTools?

I have the Mac version, I love it, it is my only ratcheting screwdriver. I'm actually on my second one now, first one lasted 5 years, this one will last much longer thanks to much smaller Li Makita 10.2 screwdriver and impact taking over most screwdriving. I recently got the same overdriving...

Tool chest review - Sears, Tractor Supply, Lowes, Home Depot, Harbor Freight

I bought the BEST for a much better price than SO or the rest, the box in my avatar is a Lista. The best boxes money can buy, for half of what tool truck slaves pay. Purchased from motorhead extraordinaire, a GJ advertiser. I sold the box to a new mechanic here, he should get many years out of...

Tool chest review - Sears, Tractor Supply, Lowes, Home Depot, Harbor Freight

I had what I think is an international toolbox. 8 years ago I was saving for a C-man proffesional (back when they were close to SO quality) I stumbled on this box, $800 new, free shipping, on eBay. I had a smaller C-man i'd out grown, but really wanted the 24" deep drawers. I loved the box but...

Tool chest review - Sears, Tractor Supply, Lowes, Home Depot, Harbor Freight

I bought that exact top box last year on clearance for $70. I'm very impressed with it. For a cheap box it served me well while I waited for my Lista to be built. For the weekend warrior it is perfect and much better than the new box with the angled corners on the lid. The best part is the 18"...

pulled the trigger on a new Lista today

Any reason Lista doesn't put a sticker or emblem on the boxes? everybody at work loves the box, but can't remember the name  I've been saving the best of the best stickers for this box for a while, I would love to have a Lista sticker to add.

pulled the trigger on a new Lista today

If I didn't already have this box, I would be have snapped that one up. Figures, there was nothing I wanted in the Junkyard specials forever, I buy, now they have a couple I wouldn't hesitate over...

pulled the trigger on a new Lista today

being a cross country skier, I've been taking every chance after work to get out on the snow before it is gone. Between that and broken airplanes all over the place I've had no time to stop by the HF store. Finally I had a few min. to run in before an appointment after work. How exactly do they...

pulled the trigger on a new Lista today

Size is close, but drawer layout is not. SO has shallow drawers, my SO racks didn't work in the SO, however they are perfect in the Lista. Being aviation tool control is critical, we will be required to have an easy to account system to catch missing tools soon at work. By labeling the loops...

pulled the trigger on a new Lista today

Air resistance, and I had the fencing cheap, thanks to CL, I got it for pennies on the dollar. Just had to tear it down. I got the trailer for free, it was a rotted out pop up, I inflated the tires, and dragged it home. Most of it went in a bon fire, the rest got scrapped for cash. A few good...

pulled the trigger on a new Lista today

One other neat thing abou the drawer organizer dividers, no matter where you install them, the holes in the bottom flange line up with those peg board looking holes in the bottom of the drawer, they include self taping screws to anchor the dividers. the drawer handles have clear plastic covers...

pulled the trigger on a new Lista today

took a drive down to the Lista plant today to pick up my new box. Kind of funny when I found out that Lista's factory is in Holliston, MA. My dad grew up there, and I spent plenty of time there visiting my grandmother. She liked to walk a lot and we used to visit one of her friends that lived...

    Round tower build
