how to determine NFA for soffit vent? (Net Free Area)

NFA = Net Free Area see image Working on correcting some attic ventilation but do not know the NFA of each soffit vent to complete the work. Any idea how to find or at least estimate the NFA of each vent so I can complete vent calculations etc? (home is not a new build etc) Also unsure...

    Looking at subcompact/compact tractors.

Regardless of the direction/brand you go and reading dozens of websites with specs, I'd drive by a dealer and actually sit on a few tractors. Ex - I see tons of JD 1025s for sale, I went by a JD dealer and sat on one and it was really cramped for me so I immediately crossed it off the list as...

Ladder accessories to limit slipping when against gutters?

I would never lean a ladder on a gutter, it will damage it creating more headaches to fix. get a standoff, the arms seat on the roof as you climb and have rubber boots.

Include prep/wiring for electric vehicle charger(s) install. Not that you'll need it in your lifetime, just forward thinking if someone down the road....

Please critique my 30x40 shop design!

no clue where you live (doesn't state in left column by your icon) but snow dumping off that slope onto a lean-to will, IMO, surely collapse it.

so where has this landed? IMO time to call in a pro and get some input on an appropriate fix, at least get some input/bids. 8" slab....cannot be cheap. EDIT - I didn't see the latter posts on page 2 of the thread. Looks far better now.

What size ridge gap on Pole Barn?

I realize this is old and your build is done, but for someone down the road.... I used stitch screws to attach my ridge caps to the steel roofing panels at the rib (not through to the wood). Worked great, no issues. If ribs are 9" apart (common) thats a lot of screws holding it on, also makes it...

    skylights have no foam seals?

Followup....ran across my own old post years later so thought I'd post a followup. I pulled the original translucent ridgecap as it was old/crispy/failing and replaced with 10 foot sections of standard 29gauge steel ridge cap. I put VersaVent on the underside of each 10 foot section for...

Edge protector trim for a hole cut in R-panel sheet?

the hole is in the flat? Plumbing section at any Big Box, pass wires thru coupling, or put pvc in the coupling first, then pass wires through (unless I misunderstand your post) or head to the roofing section and buy a pipe boot to thread through. Trim to fit

slippery steel roof, what footwear to not slip?

Have run across many ideas, Merrell trail shoes w Vibram TC5+ sole has popped up though I looked at some and they fit funny. Would have been nice as then the shoe could be worn elsewhere and not just on a steel roof. In reading further, Vans are a sound idea to look into.

slippery steel roof, what footwear to not slip?

The steel on the roof of my polebarn is slipperier then heck even when dry. Maybe you've experienced this. Old steel not as much an issue due to weathering, but new steel is slick. What footwear do you wear to not slip and fall? Preferably something easy to find and won't break the bank...

eaves trim. Is it usually standard on pole barns?

Just ran across this (I know post is old) A larger issue to me is the lack of rib (or steel being 'bent up') to prevent water from flowing down the interior sidewall. Looks like (?) they cut the last rib off yours, though if they had bent that up there'd be no issue here. your building...
