Mini Split $ Break Even Point

Can't you just run it backwards? That's all a heat pump is - an air conditioner running backwards.

    Sill seal or no?

That stuff works but damn it's messy. I spec'ed it overhead to seal the ceiling drywall at the exterior perimeter. The sheet rockers were ready to lynch me. Not sure what you are using for an air seal layer, but bugs can still find a way in through gaps between the sill plate and the...

    Sill seal or no?

And, sill sealers don't seal. At least the foam ones don't. I use it, but I use Prosoco or Zip LiquidFlash to seal it to the concrete and the sheathing on the outside. Helps immeasurably as a bug sealer. On my recent home build, I let the ants show me where I had a path in from the outside...

    Building inspector never showed.

And he shouldn't have cursed. That's rude.

In your experience how detailed do detached garage plans need to be for permitting?

Asking a permitting question to a forum is pointless other than for curiosity. I just built a house and didn't need plans. The AHJ doesn't do plan review and doesn't require plans to be submitted. They do require a permit and they do several stages of inspection and require a CO, but plans...

    Grass Cutting Shoes?

I have a pair of Corcoran steel toe Marauders that refuse to die. If you get the Coyote color no worries with polish. I got started with Corcoran jump boots for motorcycle use. I replaced the laces with zip ups because a loose lace through the chain is a bad way to have fun.

    Options for removing garage humidity

Minisplits can operate in a "dry" or "dehumidify" mode and are very energy efficient. You add the benefit of being able to temper the temperature up or down if the odd day comes that you need it. Even without dry mode, you don't have to worry about oversizing quite as much with a mini split as...

    Garage door side seals

Moving the track doesn't move the door. The rollers float in the mounts. There are more ways to screw it up than there are to help it, plus you are looking at some dangerous spring tension. Study up on it or call someone.

The resin injection hole of Knipex 95 05 20 *****.

Sandpaper on TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) will only muck it up worse (as will heat). Your best chance at improving it if it is a bother is with a razor knife.

    Sub-Panel at first disconnect location

I have a 320a service. It feeds two 150a service disconnects. The first goes through-wall to my shop DP. the second goes through a generator transfer switch to my house.

Wire from main to sub panel

The advantage @Innovate1 is referring to for fiber is not bandwidth, but lightning isolation. Living in thunderstorm country, I don't put copper ethernet in the ground anymore.

The resin injection hole of Knipex 95 05 20 *****.

It is the vestige from a hot gate. Step zero is for the part designer to work with the mold engineer and shop operations to design the part for mold and molding efficiency. Step one is to place the gate where it does not impact tactile feel. Step two is to not execute the mold crudely...

    Ideal bathroom ceiling height

Any competent drywaller can rip a sheet along its length in about three seconds with a knife following the end of a tape measure. They are more likely to ***** about 5/8" rock than about ripping sheets for height. When my house was sheetrocked, the biggest, burliest, meanest-looking hanger of...

electrical gurus; 220 V motor on 2 wires????

It is intended to deceive. SPL is the instantaneous peak horsepower, which is essentially the starting surge.

electrical gurus; 220 V motor on 2 wires????

The only place I do it is for a thermostat on a 240V heater (which is fed from a 2-pole breaker).

electrical gurus; 220 V motor on 2 wires????

It will be the inrush and not the running load that welds the switch contacts. You don't just need a HP rated switch, you need a 5 HP rated switch.
