Sweet! So do you replace the brazed on carbide cutter your self, or you buy a new one when it wears out?

Sure china CAN copy and produce anything at any quality level, but that's not common. Most of the foreign businesses that do business there are looking for profit margins and not quality. Look at what happened to Caterpillar!

Ratcheting Wrenches - which styles do you use?

I had that same thing happen to me with a Matco 9mm. You had to smack it on the concrete for it to start working again. Matco replaced it with a new one.

Yes, you are right. The 199Z is what I was thinking about. I should have double checked my numbers before posting!

There is a LOT of engineering going on in those simple tools. Compare a machinist level to a carpenters level and you will immediately notice a difference. The Z means precision. The model 98 is 5 thou, while the 98Z is half a thou... BIG difference!

    Craftsman OVERDRIVE

I bought a corded hammer drill a few years back, and a corded reciprocating saw. I'm not sure what the part numbers are, and I don't have access to them at the moment.

All the DeWalt tools I own say Made in the USA on them. I guess that will never happen again.

98 or 98Z? I wouldn't call either of those simple, and one is very NOT simple.

How long have they owned DeWalt? Why change what they are doing? Why make exceptions? Unless they face backlash and loose money, they will increase revenue by cutting expenses. It's just business, and in business there is no sentimental value.

Where to Find a Left-Handed Threaded Nut for Bench Grinder

Not everything McMaster sells is online... Make a phone call and see what they say. I bought something once upon a time and it was no longer available online. I called their hotline and the guy on the phone said they still sell it, but don't list it on their webpage anymore.

Stanley Black and Decker closing American tool factory

I feel bad for the families who made a living working there. I've seen first hand what happens when a big manufacturing plant closes down. The community feels the ripple effects, and sometimes never recovers. My friends father worked at a big plant, he was a union member, but the whole thing...

Tesa also makes outstanding products. I had a bestest that measured +- .00002 (y) I love Starrett ratcheting micrometers, those are sweet. I also love the old Brown and Sharpe 10th mics with the weird lines on the barrels, but maybe i'm crazy o_O Oh and the LARGE face Starrett dial indicators...
