    Snap on 1/4" TF72 vs THLFD72

TF72. The other one is too long for close quarters. I have one and it's my go-to.

Inherited: What do I have?! 95% Snap-On, BluePoint, Bonney

The exhaustive inventory effort leads me to think that you're curious if you've hit a goldmine. Nice batch of older tools but don't retire just yet. I'm not sure what it would cost you to add them to your HO policy but if it's too much, over the next 20 years you'll just end up paying for...

    Show your new tool arrivals

That is awesome. I even like the color.

Just missed out on this old Anvil

I wouldn't lose sleep over not paying $200 for that. It's nothing special. For $25, it would be a handy piece to have around for banging on. At $200, it's a recipe for buyers remorse.

    Giving up my vise vice.

Agreed. They take up too much space and unless I can use something I don't get much out of stepping around stuff for 30 years.

Reducing Back Drag on Snap On Ratcheting Screwdrivers

Something seems off... While Snapon can produce lemons as well I own a few of Snapon's ratcheting screwdrivers and have handled several on the tool truck. They have all been smooth and they worked fine. If you have a relationship with a driver just show him what's going on and he will fix you...

    Estate Sale Drill Press

Drill press is nice but the story is outstanding. Not only would I have given you the drill press, I would have shut the sale down for 15 minutes and let you look around by yourself just to piss off the estate sale vultures. I've seen it myself, these estate sale wackos get way too aggressive...

SK Tool Truck in your area yet?

The Snapon markup is so stupidly high that it can support a business model where you have drivers. But, unless SK is going to stop selling through Internet retailers I don't see how the driver model will work for them. I doubt people are going to all of a sudden start paying more for SK stuff...

    Combination wrenches(yet another)

Easy answer. Snapon all the way. Why? They are made from quality steel, finished beautifully, hold their value and you can easily replace one if you need to (i.e. find a driver or mail them in to Snapon mother ship). Plus, I like buying things from a company with a real presence. Heck, you...

Any advice picking a stubby 3/8 flex?

Sounds like you already have your answer. Since you like the design so much invest in the snapon and enjoy it for the rest of your life. In 20 years I bet you won't even remember what you paid for it.

Where do I get this Snap On Ratchet? (Novelty I think..)

It's a dealer promo thing. My driver had one on his truck that he was giving away via a drawing. They are kind of cool and function like a real one but appear to just be chrome covered plastic.

How to value/sell a 'vintage' Delta Drill Press?

I agree with others who say that's about $150-200. And that's only if you find someone who appreciates the old stuff. I find drill presses super handy but people just don't seem to appreciate them. I think it must be the size and the amount of space they take up.

Vintage file to nice to use

Another vote for using it. Just because something is old doesn't mean it's special or valuable.

The week after buying a new machinist's vise...

That Yost was a great choice and, in my opinion, better for general shop work that the Wilton bullet vises that everyone constantly raves about.....and I actually own a Wilton :)

    Got me an anvil

If all you did was buy it so you could beat on it then it will serve its purpose. No reason to worry about selling it.

    Got me an anvil

I think that the brand on that one is Vulcan and anvil snobs would consider that one a so-so quality brand. If the Swedish anvil is in good shape you might jump on that one as Swedish anvils are often prized by collectors.

    The SocketMate

I assume the designer of the SocketMate will be reading this thread so I'll give my two cents. The idea is good and although I don't really have an immediate use for it, some might. I think the biggest hurdle here is going to be preventing companies from ripping off the idea, just as others...

Tool Auction in PA...lots of snap on

I have been to many auctions and there's no way to determine what stuff will go for. It depends on the crowd, the month, the weather, etc. But, this one would be fun to go to. My philosophy is that unless I get a 50% or more discount off of what I get from my normal dealer, I don't buy used...

Metric sockets ... ? Snap on or GearWrench?

I am a DIY guy but I have Snapon sockets and appreciate their machining and smooth chrome but I haven't found they work any better than my craftsman stuff. For sockets, I think going with a less expensive brand is ok.
