Stanley is Selling at their Cost to Manufacture.

That's not a sales chart.. it's a chart for investors that shows where they think each brand is positioned in the retail market. So right Proto is at the high end... the most expensive gear and now they show craftsman at the bottom... the DIY homeowner grade gear. How much money any of those...

Craftsman USA Factory - Bad News

Warranty wasn't even a thought. More like I suspect whatever they did produce isn't going to be complete sets... and so there's no way to fill in skips with matching gear so right. Might as well buy something else. That & overall it's hard to get past the failure. The whole ride was...

Craftsman USA Factory - Bad News

Nope. If the USA junk had lived long enough to be found in the wild I might've bought an $89 blowmold set or whatever... just to support why not?! But what I really wanted & hoped for was a complete... or complete-ish no skips full boxed set like Sears had in the olden days... the before...

    Palm Sander

Yes absolutely yes. The triangular sanding pads rule excellent detail sander! That's actually about all I use anymore... the 5" round orbitals & multi tool detail. I have a couple of the square 1/4 and think I'm just gonna donate those to habitat. I was against the round & Velcro pads for a...

    Palm Sander

Last fall I picked up one of these hazard freight Bauer orbital sanders on sale for $20... it's shockingly just as good as any name brand I've ever used. It's on sale again! I'll probably buy another...

Stanley is Selling at their Cost to Manufacture.

Sort of yes. This came up in my news feed & while I'm not a financial guy I understand enough to realize they aren't really making money right now. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4600665-stanley-black-and-decker-fallen-dividend-king Part of the problem, at least for us is the reports don't...

Lets see your Glass Cleaning secret weapons! What do you love or hate?

I'm also in the newspaper & Windex camp. Picked that up 20 odd years ago... key is don't get the paper too wet. Keep rotating the wad & or swap for a new wad. Mirrors... glass... when you have the right feel & dampness there are no / low streaks. Haven't found anything significantly better.

How to get warranty service for older craftsman tools

Well... at least ya got something out of it! Those are oK beater ratchets I have the 1/4 and 3/8 in travel field kits. Easily nicer then rhe old 36 tooth but there's better for the same / less coin. But workable I guess. And now you've got a story too! Geez.

How to get warranty service for older craftsman tools

Fwiw we also had ways to go an extra step & take care of people who were super nice & regular customers... or maybe someone was feeling real sentimental about grandpa's old ratchet. No problem Everything had to total out in the computer. Checks & balances but long ago there were ways to...

How to get warranty service for older craftsman tools

I was an assistant manager at Sears hardware long ago.. Torque wrenches always had a 1 year warranty. We would sometimes, at our own discretion override that or offer a pro-rated / discounted replacement but that really depended on a couple three things... How much someone complained vs how...

DeWalt table saws - what is going on?

This is true. Some... ok most of the little job saws can get really sketchy... even dangerous the bigger the sheet gets. Often it's a 2 person gig with someone supporting outfeed. Couple that with the fact that 95% of the time these things aren't actually bolted down... just sitting loose on a...

Stanley / DeWalt / Craftsman fiberglass hammer recall - 2023 edition

And how many have already been destroyed or otherwise disappeared? Pretty sure I had a Stanley sledge that was lost to the sauce. Anyway what I thought was interesting is all the overlap between brands... it really is all the same isn't it? Yellow or red whuz your favorite color?

Stanley / DeWalt / Craftsman fiberglass hammer recall - 2023 edition

Oof. How do you build 2 million plus defective hammers over several years..? https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2023/Stanley-Black-Decker-Recalls-2-2-Million-DeWALT-Stanley-and-Craftsman-Fiberglass-Sledgehammers-Due-to-Impact-Injury-Hazard

Tool Nut Just sent out an Email with the new USA Milwaukee Pliers and Screwdrivers Pricing

Dunno about Wiha anymore. I bought two 5 piece sets of Wiha screwdrivers on clearance last week for a whopping 14 bucks each! And it's not like wiha was ever well represented at bLowes... stuff was jammed into random places. Plus are we sure Klein is leaving depot? They won't be in both orange...

Are any new Craftsman tools worth it?

Good call let's put it this way... if you walk into bLowes & ask for the absolute cheapest wrench set they have in stock? They're gonna hand you craftsman raised panels. I'm sure they're fine & no worse then anything from hazard freight but it's not hard to find better... like sitting right...

Are any new Craftsman tools worth it?

There's an awful lot of China imports in mainland USA too... it's not that varied. Lots of re branding. I actually bought those SAE gunmetal wrenches a few weeks back so the pricing is all pretty fresh in my head... IIRC the craftsman 7 piece raised panel set made in India is $21 at bLowes...

Are any new Craftsman tools worth it?

Some of the current stuff is decent enough that I'd buy it again but the wrenches? Ehhh... The raised panel style they offer today are made in India and an oversized, kinda cartoon version of the classic design. There are better options... For a few bucks more the gunmetal chrome wrenches are...

Are all the little pancake / hotdog compressors basically the same?

I'd probably hop on a deal like that if I walked in a store & saw it... open box & all. Only bLowes nearby is pretty much like the 7-11 or circle k of home improvement if I didn't drive past a couple times a week I'd never stop. Next nearest one is 45 minutes each way. Much better store...

Craftsman USA Factory - Bad News

Yup yup and I do feel like most of the junk coming out of the Apex group is hipper then what SBD is offering under the cman branding... things that could have been... But now you make we wonder..? Did the SBD just realize they overpaid for the brand? What did Advance Auto pay for diehard? Which...
