Vacuum Pump Fitting Won't Fit Yellow Manifold Gauge Hose: A Boring Drama

I found this book by Rob Siegel to be very helpful and well written. He has a whole chapter on fittings.

    Rag safety

Solvents alone like thinner and lubes won't spontaneously combust. Oil based products that cure by combining with oxygen are the dangerous ones. When using stains or wipe-on varnishes I just spread the rags out on the concrete until the next day or longer.

question about trying to save a peach tree

I've had mixed but mostly opposite results. I have 5 apples trees, 3 are too young to fruit yet. I had 6 but fire blight got the Golden Delicious as I expected. But the Arkansas Black is very large and produces around 200 apples each year. The bad news is the damn squirrels get every one...

question about trying to save a peach tree

A photo would help to determine how heavy the top part is. How long standing is the break? I would guess guy ropes will be needed. However, regardless of the damage, I wouldn't put a lot of effort in it. Where are you located? Peach trees are difficult to maintain and usually require a...

    Home Level 2 Charger Installation

Good point. thanks for bringing that out. Luckily mine did accept 4 ga. I used the 4 gauge in a way to prepare for possibly more powerful charging systems in the future and I figured if someone wanted to replace it with a sub-panel in the future they could go bigger.

    Home Level 2 Charger Installation

Lots of good brands out there I bet. I have installed 3 Wallbox brand Pulsar Plus EVSEs and find them to be very high quality. Two were hard wired and one plug in. I actually used 4 gauge copper since Lowes sold 4 and 6 gauge THHN for the exact same price.

Car lift - is it worth it when you're old

Makes all the difference in the world. I was your age when I built my shop 8 years ago. Using age and mobility as a reason definitely get a 4 post with rolling jacks. As far as the actuarial aspect, I don't worry since my son will live here and uses the lift as much as I do.

    Vevor

I have a few Vevor items and I will say they have been better than expected but my expectations were low. I bought a 16" pizza oven for much less than a very similar Ooni. I bought another bench grinder and one part of the tool rest was missing. It took a little while but they sent me the...

Is EBay completely worthless or does it just seem that way to me

Yep, I order much less from ebay than I used to. Much more from Amazon. I hope ebay stays around though. I recently needed replacement control board and a drain pump for a discontinued Maytag washer. Found used ones easily on ebay.

Which Saw would Work Best in this Situation?

I agree with the naysayers. Say you resaw the boards on a bandsaw. You will have thinner boards but still warped and too rough for finished surface. Forget trying to joint a 12 ft. board. Even if you could find a jointer with a very, very long bed, if the board is even mildly bowed, you...

Upgraded Windows and Doors in Tube Steel Building

I went even further on a metal building, I found one that would sell me a building without windows, doors or a roof. I wanted double pane vinyl windows and fiberglass half glass doors. Ordered from Lowes and specified opening sizes to building co. Roof is a different subject. I love...

Deriving 120 from 240 a long way from the house

No I haven't gone any further yet. Other things came up (like a hurricane) but might get back to it. That sounds like a good idea. Particularly the idea of getting wifi through power wires. I will delve into that online and try to learn.
