Shed - Build, buy, or DIY "kit." Any input appreciated

You know, that's actually a really freaking good idea. I could absolutely do that. That's a REALLY, REALLY good idea. Could have the shed sit street side, and the Deere on the lake side. Far enough up from the lake, and covered, so it won't really look that noticeable. That makes the shed...

    Detailed load calculator (attic storage)

Yes, most of the rules of thumb would say the same size you came up with. I was looking at 1 ton, most were saying 1.5 ton. But the reason I'm questioning this is that they all look at square footage, none of them look at volume. My 1000SF room has the same volume of air as a 500SF room...

Shed - Build, buy, or DIY "kit." Any input appreciated

Sorry for any ambiguity in my original post. Price isn't the top priority, so I'm not considering using scraps and piecing it together. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but when I say that I mean I don't want to just throw a ton of money at it. Not saying I'm trying to be cheap. I'd...

    Detailed load calculator (attic storage)

No, it is insulated with the open cell spray foam full thickness of the rafters, which are 2x10. From what I understand, foam isn't really rated the same way fiberglass is, the R value is estimated to be about 50. It is MUCH cooler than a typical attic with ventilation. Just would like it a...

Shed - Build, buy, or DIY "kit." Any input appreciated

That's one of the issues. Just moved so I don't really know anyone nearby, certainly not enough to rope into this. My father passed away several years ago, father-in-law is 81, so even though he is knowledgeable, he shouldn't be doing this....and he lives 4 hours away. I've done enough stuff...

Shed - Build, buy, or DIY "kit." Any input appreciated

Hey guys, I REALLY appreciate all of this input! I was afraid I wouldn't get much feedback, as I found several threads that didn't get any response.

Shed - Build, buy, or DIY "kit." Any input appreciated

This is our last house. Bought the property 4 years ago, 1.5 years in architectural cycle, 2.5 years building. We had issues that delayed it, but we're on the lake, have 2 acres, over 300' of shoreline, blah, blah, blah. So we plan to live here until we die, or are somehow physically unable...

Shed - Build, buy, or DIY "kit." Any input appreciated

That's one of the questions I have. I've found info on total load for the whole shed, but that isn't that helpful when I have the bulk of it in one spot. At least this sucker has big *** tires under the (diesel, so heavy) engine! It comes with 2.6 galvanized steel joists with 24" centers...

Shed - Build, buy, or DIY "kit." Any input appreciated

Okay, I've read up some on here, particularly from @bdbecker on his shed build. The time it seems to take has me thinking that just sucking it up and buying one may be the best bet. Here's what I'm looking for: 10x16 with an 8' wide double door on the 10' side, just a walk in door on one of...

Thanks, but I'm looking at HVAC load, not structural.

Ought to change title from "nuts" to "fasteners," lest suggestions to introduce yourself to Rosy Palmer

Relocating and moving 2 post lift or sell and buy new qu

In my old house, I had to cut out some width from the baseplate to make it narrower, and I had to box the cielings, as the lift was 9' and the cielings were 8'. It "should" not have fit, but I made it fit. Where were all you people last month when I put my house up for sale!? :)

Relocating and moving 2 post lift or sell and buy new qu

In my case it was more about not having a buddy to be able to help me. I unfortunately had an accident and cracked some ribs, so I wasn't able to install it until we had family visit for a holiday, then I had my brother in law and daughter's boyfriend help get the posts up. But yeah, overall...

Relocating and moving 2 post lift or sell and buy new qu

I moved mine. Have to say, though, it was a lot more difficult than I expected. Maybe because when I bought it I was in my late 30's, and now I'm in my early 50's? Mine is an Atlas. WHen I installed it, the posts were assembled with the hydraulic rams and the piece that goes up and down...

GOJO original formula hand cleaner, discontinued?

I quit using that stuff from the smell and greasy feeling after trying out this stuff that has walnut shells in it. I get it locally from a place called Hal's Supply. They have it branded as theirs, but I've seen it elsewhere. Ten times better than anything else, no harsh smell, doesn't...

    Are Air Compressors still necessary?

We moved in December, and I moved my 80 gallon 2 stage. I still haven't gotten mine hooked up, there is just so much to do (and getting the old house finished was a MAJOR undertaking). But I often curse not having it. That said, I do have a pancake one that has saved my bacon a few times...

    Matte topcoat

Armorpoxy has a "Military Topcoat" that dulls the epoxy look a bit. That might be worth looking into, though it is part of an epoxy system, and not polyurea.

    404 not found

This makes more sense. I was as baffled as everyone else reading through this, and though it seemed to go unnoticed, someone pointed out that a motor failure won't be able to be fixed by a generator or battery backup. Seems like a weird, crazy, random freak thing to have the power go out like...

Does Your Body Hurt Less with a Lift?

The only thing that comes close to the best value as my lift is my pressure washer. And it isn't just about comfort, it is also about safety.

Adding depth to rafters for insulation

Have you considered getting rigid sheet insulation? You could put the fiberglass in between the rafters, then put the sheet on top of that. This stuff is about $1/SF, and has an R-value the same as closed cell foam (R-6.0 for 1" thick)...
