Thinking about buying an AC recovery machine

I understand all of that, and I was not trying to say it would be in perfect, legal de officio compliance. So I apologize for the ambiguity. 99% of people in your position are going to evacuate it to the air, and there is no realistic way for the EPA to police that. I'm saying that using a...

Thinking about buying an AC recovery machine

As opposed to deliberately releasing it into the atmosphere.

Thinking about buying an AC recovery machine

For the first question, one could use an empty cylinder. Pull a vacuum on it, close it, disconnect pump, connect refrigerant lines, open valve. That may not get all, but it'll certainly get a lot of it. I don't know of a good way to clean it, though, if it were going to be re-used, as opposed...

how many sharpenings can you get out of a chainsaw chain?

+1. Can't imagine not having this. And I used it almost every time I take out the saw. 3 passes each link, and good to go. Have no idea how many times I've sharpened the chain, but a sharp chain is a glorious thing to have. I actually carry the sharpener with me when I take out the saw, as...

    Troweled on liquid nails removal

I would try different solvents in a few different spots. Put down the solvent, cover with plastic for a while so they have time to work, and not evaporate. I've turned a few Porsches into race cars, and the glue they used on 944 carpets is the hardest stuff to get up I have ever come across...

    Detailed load calculator (attic storage)

A few years ago, I had found a load calculator that was very detailed, but now all I'm finding are more generic calculators. Basically square footage, number of occupants, and climate zone. I have a 1000SF storage area above one of hte garages and the kitchen. Had is sprayed with foam...

New product install review - IntegraCoat MPE

Grr.....Had a huge writeup drafted and somehow lost it. Anyway, I just put this stuff down last week. Was looking for options for a home I'm going to be listing, and posted about that here. Cliff's Notes is I was looking for the Craftsman of floor coatings - not Snap-On, but not Harbor...

    Self propelled lawn mower(s)

Will never have another FWD self-propelled, again. Driven wheels get unweighted entirely too easily and too frequently. If your discharge chute is getting clogged, you are trying to cut too much height off in one pass. I know that isn't a recommendation, which is what you are after, but I...

    Drywall anchor repair

This is the answer. As much as I hate the things, when the mounts for toilet paper holders or towel rods get messed up, it is either cut out a large section, or use one of these. New house, the guy installing ours overtorqued the snot out of the large anchor, which caused the drywall to fail...

    Advice on this garage

We just built, and the market has continued to go up since we bought the lot. We had to go 20% over asking price to come out on top, and there were 9 offers within 5 hours of the lot being listed. If anyone is looking to move to a hot market, I'll be listing my old house in Knoxville in a few...

Coat/paint stained floor to sell the house

Yeah. I went through 5 quarts of Chomp. Was disappointed. The Greased Lightning referenced earlier was the trick. Feel very good about the floor now. Renting a diamond prep tool this afternoon. Will epoxy next week. Have done 2 floors befire, but others were both new construction.

Coat/paint stained floor to sell the house

Alright, we have a winner. After talking to FJ4FUN a few times, the product he listed looks to be about perfect for me. Much better than the Home Depot stuff, but not as high end as I'd be putting in a place that would be my workshop. So I can not worry about selling my house with a ticking...

Coat/paint stained floor to sell the house

Racedeck really isn't a good option for this application. Overkill, probably raise suspicion, looks a bit cheap by comparison (again, this application, not in all), and is also way over my budget.

Coat/paint stained floor to sell the house

I know, and I appreciate that, but like I said, I am going with my agent's recommendation on this one. And I did express a concern about how someone may think it is hiding something. And he understood, but also said he just thinks given the build level of the house that it needs it, and also...

Coat/paint stained floor to sell the house

Okay, so next question. I'm curious to know what folks would do about the air handler and water heater area. Water heater isn't that big of an issue, but the air handler is, and even more than it is the ducting going from it. I'm almost inclined to just mark off a box around the whole thing...

Coat/paint stained floor to sell the house

This stuff is incredible. I never would have guessed the stuff you buy at Home Depot wpuld blow away the specialty stuff you have to order, but here we are! I'm now thinking I'll sand it with a coarse grit screen and coat it. Fighting with myself over a single coat, no flake polyurea or the...

Coat/paint stained floor to sell the house

Understand the cynicism, but I disagree for a few reasons. I've known the guy for 19 years, we've used him a few times in the past. We've been personal friends for about 5-6 years, and ride bikes together. He is about 20 years older than me, has been doing this since the early 80's, could...

Coat/paint stained floor to sell the house

I assume I'll need to mechanically etch it, either a buffer or diamond wheel. But the paint isn't the problem, it is the oil stains that aren't coming up that have me concerned about adhesion.
