Well, I am a little late to congratulate you on how great a job you have done as I am trying to get over my dismay at my own lack of abilities compared to yours- couldn't you have at least gouged something or hit it with a hammer somewhere like I would have done? I can show you how if you like...

Hey GB, The OS trip was awesome. Started in Roscoff in Brittany, then cycled down to Nantes often through muddy bush tracks (that really needed a mountain bike !) Then followed rivers and canals eastwards across France to Germany , followed the Rhine northwards ( just watch "Getaway" and look at...

I confess that I have been lurking on your thread since the start ( but haven't had anything useful to add so far, I guess !) ... but this ***** big time . Sorry to hear about being gazumped. It might sound trite , but maybe something better is around the corner ? Fate is a funny thing...

Best way to move a table saw?

... forgot to say, and the reason that I replied (LOL) is that my new powermatic saw came with the cast iron metal table in 2 or 3 parts which I assembled, and a separate extension table ( not cast iron ). The bar for the guide was also separate, not sure if I would want to risk bending this by...

Yeh , I used to think all was the same- just compare the numbers ! I was in the UK and Europe in April-May this year (outside all day on a bicycle , touring) , and we had a few days of 28 degrees which I feel were equal to Aussie 38 degrees , and nearly had heatstroke on the three or four 33...

Hi Lyndon, what a tool score ! You have been busy on all fronts. I also went to the working with wood show ( Friday) and saw there were 2 vendors for that vice system, I actually watched the demo ( I think it was the other vendor) so I could see what to do with the Zyliss vice I bought on eBay...

Advice on Dawn Offset Vice restore

oops didn't see your post 'till just now. I haven't restored any Dawn vices for a while ( all going for silly money now) and gave away my paint to a friend's mate that wanted to repaint his old Dawn. I'll see if I can track down that tin or at least the number, but I'm not sure I remember there...

    KC tools, anyone?

Yep , Australia is not great for tools anymore as a general rule.I have a few KC tools ( 3/8"drive socket set + spanners, 1/4" drive socket set sitting still unopened, some other stuff somewhere ) , almost all bought "on sale" online at a price I couldn't walk past . They seem good ( not SO or...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

These Dawn Offset vices have been made for many decades ( at least half a century) in many sizes and either standard Cast Iron or "Super Grade Ductile Iron" . In Australia that would be a very expensive buy but I do not know your local market I didn't know they were now being made in China but...
