How Do You Store Your Ready To Use Power/Battery Tools

I've bought into the Ryobi system. Tools go in drawers of a cabinet, batteries are kept on a pair of 6 port chargers mounted to the wall. Theoretically keeping the batteries on the charger can be bad, but I have had great luck with this and always have a whole bunch of charged batteries ready to go.

    why aluminum wiring?

mainly price, aluminum cable is much cheaper than copper. As long as the proper grease is used on the ends and terminated properly, there is no issues even in residential. The main issues are improper installations and retrofits. I believe almost all high voltage transmission lines are also...

    Garage length

9' wide garage doors **** for anything bigger than a midsize vehicle. I have a 22' wide garage with a pair of 9' wide doors and my 1/2 ton with tow mirrors fits with about 2" to spare on either side. Full width trailers are also extremely close and a royal pita to back into the garage. When I...

Has anyone modified their walls to make your garage taller?

I lifted my garage about 24" by raising the whole garage and installing a cinder block wall to set the garage down on again. This only really makes sense for a mostly unfinished garage, as everything will then be higher up (light switches, outlets, etc) Depending on how the power comes out to...

Shed Plywood Floor: How to Protect?

I did PT 2x8 for floor joists and 3/4 PT plywood on the floor and base plates for the walls. 6x6 PT beams sit on concrete pads to keep everything off the ground and dry. Roof is a traditional gable roof with vented soffit on both sides and ridge to allow airflow inside. After everything was...

What can go into a trench?

I would put the water and gas line at the bottom of the trench(48" down as you said), back fill to 36" below grade, run the conduits for high voltage, back to 18" below grade and put in the conduit for data and some cheap marking tape. Back fill once again to ~12" below grade and then run the...

    Chainsaw disappointment

The only Stihl's I don't like are the ones with the "quick" chain adjuster. Anything with nuts on the cover will work well, making sure you buy enough saw for your expected work load. Other than that, just about any Stihl or Husqvarna would need to be really abused to be "easily breakable"

    Quickjack Hydraulic Cylinder Won’t Retract

did you check the relay on the pump if it was activating to release the pressure in the cylinders? If not then the system stays sealed as a safety precaution. Also the air cylinders need to be pressurized to the right amount to lower the jacks once the weight of the vehicle is off of them...

    Enclosed trailer upgrades and modifications

For 4 batteries, especially if you are talking about large deep cycle batteries. I would be looking at mounting them under the trailer on some sort of a rack, or in the bottom of some storage cabinets if the need to be inside the trailer. That is quite a bit of weight, so trying to get them back...

    Enclosed trailer upgrades and modifications

Same here, just exterior semi-gloss pure white paint. Washes off easily with the hose or pressure washer, and since it is base pure white, easy to touch up if needed.
