Toilet install, inners supports not level

That's what I was thinking. Grind a little until it doesn't wobble on a flat floor. Apply un-sanded grout when the toilet goes in. Its just a porcelain casting, not a machined piece. I replaced many seals over my life, this is the first new out of box toilet I'm installing.

Toilet install, inners supports not level

I'm getting ready to install the toilet in our basement bathroom project. Its a Kohler Highline. The toilet has inner supports/landings molded into the bowl. The inner supports are proud of the perimeter of the toilet, so when placed on a flat floor, it wobbles. Is this normal, and part of...

    Basement toilet rough in

If any are tracking this thread, an update. Work travel has gotten in the way of progress. I finished the shower tile last weekend. The floor is next. I was going to use Oatey's PVC spacer rings. Once my wife picks the tile this week, I'll use one or two rings to take the top of the flange...

L-Bracket Socket Plate For 6" Can

The builder's electrician used a can light without a bulb holder for a fixture over what is now a shower alcove. I'd like to use a bulb and moisture resistance trim, vs an LED retrofit fixture. I'm tired of buying $15 LED, vs a couple dollar bulb. Are L brackets available at electrical...

    Tire Plug kits

If I'm on a long trip, I set the cruise at 65 and just pass the time. For me, that seems like the speed I could react to a blowout.

    Tire Plug kits

I'll offer a different view. Modern tires are so much better than 20 or 30 years ago. Growing up it seemed common to see someone changing a tire on the side of the road. (Automotive rubber parts in general are light years ahead in quality from 20 years ago; hoses tend not to develop leaks...

    Go-Board to Shower Base transition

Follow up. I bought a sheet of 3/8 and 1/4 plywood. The lip on the shower base is exactly 3/8, so furring out 3/8 where the alcove framing was true to the edge of base worked fine, the outerface of the 3/8 ply is flush with the base. (hard to describe, I'll post photos). A couple places...

    Go-Board to Shower Base transition

Looking at it, ripping 1/4 and 3/8 ply is the simplest, and the right way to do it is to fur the wall out. Two sides of the alcove and the third side of alcove and 8 ft wall the alcove transitions into. A combination of 1/4, 3/8 and paper drywall shims will do it. That will allow the...

    Go-Board to Shower Base transition

Do you usually just rip furring strips from 2x material? I have a table saw and that wouldnt be a problem.

    Help with this lock

Did you try prying on the tab with a large screwdriver? It looks like a simple retaining clip.

    Go-Board to Shower Base transition

I had posted earlier about using GoBoard in a shower alcove. I have a Kohler shower base installed, and will use GoBoard and tile for the Alcove. The Kohler installation sheet recommend furring the walls so the tile wallboard material is against the base flange. This would work fine on one...

    Basement toilet rough in

I lik I like option 2. I could drop the flush head Tapcons in the flange and pour the mortar around them, and let the mortar set with Tapcons in the flange.

    Basement toilet rough in

We're finishing a bathroom in our basement that the builder did a three point rough-in. I had the plumber that the builder used do the 5-pt rough-in, setting the toilet flange, set shower pan, shower valve, supply lines. Question on the toilet flange , should I fill the area under the flange...

Go-Board Johns Manville for shower enclosure

no, the blue board will not be tiled. I was going to take the tile 6 feet up from the shower base. Tile will only go over Go Board.

Go-Board Johns Manville for shower enclosure

I have a sub to hang tape and sand the blue board in bath. I was going to install the GoBoard first, cover it with plastic drop cloth, then have the sub install blue board above the GoBoard in the shower enclosure and the rest of the room. Is that how you normally do it?
