    Extension Cord for Welder

Same dilemma as you, same welder and same compressor outlet. I ended up changing the outlet to a 50A and changing the plug on the compressor to match. I agonized over that for a week, it took just minutes to do. The 50A outlet fit in same box as the 6-20, all I needed was a new faceplate.

What welder for a car hobbyist

Santa finally let me open the Miller 211. Here's my first four welds. 1/4" plate, ground off the mill scale, no bevel , not enough gap either I think. Welds 1 and 2 were .30 wire the machine came with, 75/25, 230v, and using auto-set. Welds 3-4 I cranked up the amps a touch (by moving the dial...

    Car service ramps

I'd feel much better using them after the bracing, looks good! When the car fell on me it was a jackstand under the rear that bent, and the car rolled own the ramps. One of the legs folded, thinking of it I can still hear the sound of metal groaning.

    Car service ramps

I'm not an engineer... To me I'd be more comfortable with a couple of X braces in the stand. OTOH, I'm more paranoid than most because I have had a car fall on me.

What welder for a car hobbyist

Reading your posts sounds familiar to my situation. "paralysis by analysis" was my problem. In my case, learning Mig is just something on my list of things I want to learn, did O/A ~30 years ago in school and for a couple years after. I was going to go cheap but the wife said "don't buy some...

    The E-bay culture

When i saw the thread title I thought you were going to echo my rant of idiots bidding the price past retail on the first day of a 6 day listing.

The best floor jack for the money

To further drive home the point made above... I had the same jack for 20 years that worked flawlessly. I jacked up the car, set the jackstands finished the job and the jack would not lift the car off the stands. You never know when it will fail. I bought a $50 jack to get the car off the...

I second this. It used to be $99 now it's a little over $100.

    40" Craftsman 22 drawer chest $550

I havent seen the 40" in the local store, but Costco has a 36" Homak that looks and feels much better than the bottom end craftsman 26" the local store has. That's why I am wondering about this combo, if they are like the bottom end 26" at the local Sears, it's pretty scary how bad it is.

    40" Craftsman 22 drawer chest $550

Is this combo any good? Looks to be their bottom level chest set at about half off. http://www.sears.com/craftsman-22-drawer-40-in-combo-red-each/p-009CO47210801B?prdNo=48&blockNo=148&blockType=G148

If Someone at Sears Were Smart....

IMHO, the issue is value. What is the cost of a tool that is good enough to do the job? If manufacturing overseas has reached a point where they can make a tool that can do the job and costs less it is hard to pass up. The extra cost one doesn't spend on a tool to "save american jobs" can be...
