Here is how I did it. I think it is close to according to the instructions. The height of the top timber has to be adjusted to suit your roof angle. Does this clarify how to do it ?

I can't quite understand what you mean. Or where you can't understand the inctructions.. On my roof the bottom of the first timber is 30mm from the bottom of the roof (I use the metal sheeting that is proprietary for my roof), then it is 369mm center/center all the way to the last one, where I...

    Finally building the Ultimate.

If I were you I would not put windows in the garage/workshop part. The sun is really anoying when you work in the engine bay and other dark areas. If you absolutely need windows, put them on the north wall.

    My little hideout in Finland

Looks very nice! I think you will be happy with the paving (asphalt ?) Much less hassle if the ground settles a bit too. Regarding the sump and pump for your drainage. I have never heard of that being done on a private property, but it depends on the ground conditions off course. What is usually...

The most important thing when laying a metal roof like the Decra is to have the correct distance between the timbers you screw the roof to. There is 2 ways to finish it off at the bottom: standard metal with one angle, and the Decra solution with 3 angles. The Decra solution looks neater but...

Thanks for the nice words! HKB3: I wouldn't have a chance at getting that first car up my road.. It's pretty steep and not too good looking either. But I like the look of the cars :) HPW: The bottom edge isn't sealed against small critters. The knobby plastic makes it pretty tight but there is...

Missing the finishing of the roof. Burning a few pallets and misc other burnable trash. Not the first and certainly not the last fire. Net to keep flies and bugs out of the attic. Below is the inspection-hatch. Used when electricity has gotten so expensive you need to isulate the ceiling...

    Tools from the old world

I mean that it is cheaper to produce, and it looks cheaper. I think it's the wrong way to go for a quality brand because: The price is not the deciding factor when people buy Hazet, so the factory should spend time increasing quality and finish, not saving pennies on something that makes the...

    Tools from the old world

It is very interesting to note that Hazet brings the proper 600N wrenches, with the double depression, to the shows but sends out the cheaper single depression version to customers. I got 2 of the latter ones about 3 weeks ago and they don't look good.

Thanks! And you're spot on. The progress is not quite as fast as the postings on here sadly :) I started digging in the middle of April 2007. The pictures in the last post are from June of 2008, so at this point we're about 14 months into the build. Lots of pictures and time still to go :)

At this point the inside insulation is complete on all the walls: Moving on with the walls and the ceiling: I am almost impressed with myself how tidy I manage to keep it :bounce: Finally the garage door is in. One of 3 things I didn't do myself. Because installation is included in the...

Second visitor to the garage. He was very unafraid and just sat on the wood trying to get warm. Closeup: Ceiling is soon done: Particle board on the walls being installed so it is possible to fasten things to the walls. I kind of regret not using plasterboard and relying on the wood behind...

It is north of Albert Lea. That's as close as I want to describe the location :D The roof steel has arrived (yellow), as has the plaster boards for the ceiling. Wall insulation getting close to completion. Also started on the ceiling. Just a tip here: If you install the plastic while it is...

Misc wood for inside and out + more insulating work. The insulation in the walls are 6" + 2" (148mm + 48mm). If I forgot to mention the polystyrene insulation under the floor is 2 x 3.15". Wiring, which as can be seen here will be hidden. Apart from to the light fixtures are those will be so...

Thank you! As will be seen later I will fill in with crushed rock, the same kind as under the floor, so the water will drain easily into the drainage pipes. There will also be a thick plastic plate on the outside of the concrete block which will keep all the moisture on the outside. Thank you...
