    Bit Set for Drill?

I've had these for a few months now and use them a ton. Haven't had any issues yet. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J7SBT7S/?tag=atomicindus08-20

    Mitutoyo 543-790B indicator value?

Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking I'll just toss them up for $100-120 or something. I will get pics when I get home and list them if I remember. I appreciate it!

    Mitutoyo 543-790B indicator value?

I have three of these indicators. I see the "new" prices online, but am looking to sell these. They are all in great condition, one is brand new, only being "used" to calibrate it. I want to post a classified ad but am not sure how much to ask. I don't have any pics as of right now because I'm...

What kind of tools have you found in the road??

I haven't ever found anything worth mentioning other than a few ratchet straps, but I've always thought it would be sweet to take an ATV down the shoulder of the expressways near me. Obviously it would never happen due to obvious reasons, but I'm sure you could find some cool stuff.

    Teach me about chainsaw chains

I agree with most of what you said. I'm probably not understanding you correctly, but I have to disagree with your bold and italicized statement above. I compare chainsaw chains to drill bits. There are people who can make them last, and people that don't know what they're doing. I've made a...

    Foam for toolbox

Thanks for that advice. I didn't even think about that! Any idea on what adhesive I'd want to use? Would the 3M stuff that I use for headliners and fabric work, you think?

    Wheel Bearing Tools

Although I can't comment on your vehicle, I have used the ATD style (not sure if more than one company makes them) before and it works GREAT. I've used it on probably 4-5 different plow trucks, all nice and rusty. Didn't have a single bearing that it wouldn't remove with ease. It was my dad's...

    Foam for toolbox

Hello all. I just pulled the trigger on a 56" U.S. General from HF. I would like to get some 2-layer cut-out foam for 5-6 of the drawers, plus maybe some drawers in my other 2 boxes. I was wondering if there was any cheaper stuff than the $35-$55 per-sheet stuff on Amazon. It doesn't have to be...

    Broken M6x1 grease fitting

Can you tape a barely-larger torx bit in it and thread it out? Or maybe use a LH drill bit?

    Ford branded tools

While helping my Grandpa clean out his garage, I found a pipe-wrench looking thing that had the Ford logo on it. He said he accidentally walked out with it when he worked for Ford back in the late 70's. It's pretty neat

    Thermal Imagers

I was talking to my dad's friend about a thermal imager. He was telling me how he got one off the Snap-On truck and he uses it for auto AC issues and battery drains, among other things. I told him I'd like to get one eventually. He then suggested that I get one of the ones that plugs into a...

Brake cleaner: Oreilleys vs Advance autos “Wearever” brand

I've noticed that the past few cases of brake cleaner my dad and I have ordered through Advance are the "low VOC" kind. Funny story... a few years ago, we (my dad) was trying to seat a tire using the ol' "I don't care if I die" brake cleaner trick. He grabbed a can off the shelf, sprayed it...

"other" uses for a 2 post lift

I used to use it to work on my dad's commercial mowers. Makes it WAY easier. I never used any special platforms or adapters, I'd just put the front two arms on the corners of the deck, and the rear two either under the back of the frame where the battery goes (walk behind), or under the back U...

What is your most sentimental tool?

I just helped clean my Grandpa's garage out, as he is 90 and is going into an assisted living home soon. A few things that I grabbed that have sentimental value to me are: An adjustable (almost like crescent) wrench. It's old, and it says "Ford" on it. I asked him, and he said it was made by...

    Auto tool kit

I have the Stanley tool kit from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JN3FGA4/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Not super high quality, but good enough to possibly get you going again if something should happen. Obviously, you're probably not going to find a kit that has everything that you need. In...

    Found its way home

Lucky you! It's such a great feeling to find a "lost" tool It's the worst when you lose one. I was doing header gaskets and new locking bolts on my Tahoe and lost my 1/4 to 3/8 adapter. I bought a new Sunex one on Amazon. Of course, I found the one that I "lost" 2 days after the new one came.

Best-value impact sockets ... your recommendations?

Last year, I decided I wanted all of Sunex's "master impact sets." My dad bought me the last set, the 1/4" set, for my birthday this past February. I now have the 1/2" in both metric and standard, 3/8", and 1/4" set. I very rarely use chrome sockets for anything anymore unless I need really thin...
