Another project this summer has been rebuilding the storm windows on the house. Most of the windows were in decent shape and only required a bit of epoxy to tighten up the joints, replaced some glazing, and fresh paint. There were a couple that were headed straight for the burn pile. This...

The barn was built in 1926 by Michigan College of Agriculture (Now MSU). Part of the foundation is from the original barn built in the late 1800’s and burned down in 1925.

Been too busy working on the yard instead of the barn. Need to get the scaffolding set up on the SE corner before it gets too hot out to paint. Mowed most of the 20 acres between yesterday and early today. Finished up just before it started to rain.

Finally finished up the trim on the inside of the door. Let’s start with a picture of where we started. I had already pulled the stops before I took this, so it wasn’t quite as bad as it looks. This is where we are now. Not a fan of how the white plastic looks on the bottom of the door...

The new door is in place, now I just need to work on the siding and trim. Let’s start with a picture of the old door New door is in place and it does a much better job of keeping the elements on the outside. Trim for the inside is cut and glued.

Thank You I would love to do that. Doing something with the silo is on the “list” of things to do but not sure when I’ll have the budget.

Give them a spray with dormant oil/copper sulfate before they start to bud. You had great success at the last place so I am sure you know all about that.

The syrup was awesome. I think it stressed the tree a little as we had some leaves drop after the 2nd year so we’ve given it a couples years off. I will probably tap it again next year.

I wish I had more maples. We tapped the big one behind the house a couple years in a row and just used a propane burner to boil it off.

The inside window trim is glued together. I used 4mm dominos at each of the joints. Just need to finish sanding the inside and then apply the finish. Also need to get the handle/hardware installed.
