    My old shop

Sorry I missed the question about the anvil. I worked on a beat up, old Hercules 110# anvil for several years, always looking out for a better one. Unfortunately, people started buying them as "art" and antique dealers started selling them for three times what they're worth as a tool. I ended...

    My old shop

I use this giz-wiz on EVERY knife I make... Combine it with an el cheap-O HF rotating head vise, and it's a fixture I couldn't live without. It almost seems unfair that with all this other stuff going, I was so fortunate to grow up in a crazy beautiful part of the world! If I'm...

Haha, you fellas could really make a guy's head swell if he wasn't careful! :) I really appreciate the kind words. It's sort'a funny, when you work on knives 6 or 7 days a week, and have subscriptions to knife mags, buy books, have tons of friends in the craft, etc... you rarely stop to think...

    My old shop

Yep... life is fantastic! I keep waiting for a piano or something to fall on my head, since I really don't deserve all of this. If your coffee break runs over, like mine is right now... ;) You can click this link, it's a thread I did with a collector on a damascus camp knife from the initial...

Thanks folks! :) Good eye on the dog! That's Shadow... he's a Malamute that showed up and tried to eat my neighbor's kittens. I spent 3 months doing everything we could think of to find his owners... radio ad, newspaper ad, CL ad, scanned for chip, posters, took him to several local vets...

    My old shop

Whoa... sorry, kind'a went overboard with pics there. Certainly not trying to spam the place with my stuff, just share. Here's the new shop--- LOTS to do to make it mine... but simply having 4 times as much floor space alone would be an unbelievable improvement for me.

    My old shop

Here's the kind of stuff I build. For what it's worth, I didn't have the two big mills or the lathe when any of these were made... so the equipment isn't necessary, it's just cool to have

    My old shop

Most of my knife making friends think I keep my shop freakishly clean, but I think clean shops produce clean work.... and it's just easier for me to focus that way. :)

    My old shop

Hi Folks- I lurk here a lot, but have only posted a couple times. Another member suggested I post in this section of the forum because of some photos I put up in the FLOORING section.... so I figured, "Why not?" :) My "job" is pretty odd to most folks. I am a full-time, custom knife maker...

    concrete floor "treatment" advice

Ha, thanks guys :) That's some really strong Google-Fu Kyle! :lol2:That OSF knife thing was quite awhile back... I had just stripped down the open rafter ceiling in those pics (true 2-1/2 X 12's cut at my Great-grandfathers saw mill).... and hadn't painted it yet. That's my old anvil. And...

    concrete floor "treatment" advice

Thanks folks :) Edger, you are correct. :) The shop floor you see in the photos above is a 50-60 year old ~4" thick concrete floor that was probably pretty ugly even when it was new. The new shop is quite empty right now, and literally 4 times the amount of square footage as the shop above...

    concrete floor "treatment" advice

Hi Folks :) I apologize if this has been covered and I'm just missing it because of weak search skills. My work is quite a bit different than most of the folks around here. I'm a full-time, custom knife maker. My shop has everything from blacksmithing equipment, to machining equipment, to 3...

32x40 Pole Barn - shop / man cave

Wow, that's REALLY nice!!! I see in the last photo you got the concrete apron/approach put in. I really love how you're finishing this out... will be SUCH a nice space!!!  Wish we had Amish folks here in Washington to do a build like that, you couldn't even dream of a price...

    68x48 attached garage

Wow! That is just a fantastic build!!! I suppose I could see the neighbors being unsure of your build if they thought you were going to scab together some shack of a garage/shop... but you have added a stick built structure that compliments the house amazingly well!!! :bowdown...
