    Vintage Caterpillar Serviceman Toolbox

Wow that was quite a while back …do you recall the years of production for these Blackhawk and Snap-on variants? No date or model stamps to be found on mine.

    Vintage Caterpillar Serviceman Toolbox

What strikes me is how strongly built this box is. No dents, so its essentially perfect structurally. Just heavy steel all the way around...despite being moved around several times for the last 40 years. Had a Flying V Craftsman 3/4" complete socket set in it and a few other tools. Hadn't been...

Canadian Snap-on roll cabinets & top boxes--trouble identifying year of manufacture KRA 4107/KRA4114

I've got a KRA 4107 roll cabinet with a KRA4114 top box that are Canada made. The date code charts on youtube are helpful for identifying USA made Snap-on cabs and top boxes but all I have i a serial number for these boxes and im not sure which numbers correspond to year of manufacture. The...

    Buying a used Snap-On toolbox

Many of the older KRA and KR boxes from the 60s thru the mid 90s are indeed stamped---its the newer ones from the late 90s onward that have printed labeling. A few very early 40s and 50s boxes were not stamped but would be the exception.

    1950s Snap-on toolbox Which model?

Found it!! Its is indeed a KRA-32 from the 1975 catalog 25.5" x 8 3/4" x 8 3/4". There is no tray in the catalog pic so it must have been an optional add.

    1950s Snap-on toolbox Which model?

I finally got the lighting angle better and I can see a ‘75 date stamp now. And in this light I am almost positive it’s a KRA 32 now. Gotta check the ‘75 catalog.

    1950s Snap-on toolbox Which model?

Appreciate the reply. I’ll keep catalog browsing. I do think it’s an 1970s variant. The KRA 109 from the early-mid 70s matches it in length but it’s not as wide or as tall as mine nor does it come with a tray. Added a pic of the tray area—-it’s missing, which always frustrates me on a...

    1950s Snap-on toolbox Which model?

I’ve got 3-4 Snap-on smaller toolboxes but I’m having trouble identifying this particular box model. It’s stamped but there’s of course a scratch just past the KRA stamp. I can make out KRA 3? And possibly a 2. Box is 25.5” x 9” x9” in size. Any ideas? I can find the same style in smaller...

Proto 5849 1” ratchet male/female —welded socket. Is it ruined ? Or can I just rebuild?

I flipped those pawls like you mentioned. They were indeed in the wrong way according to Proto schematics I found.

REED R Series. Post your Reed date stamps.

"Sometime in mid 1958 standoff pads were added to the bottom of the swivel bases." Very thorough discussion and great info on Reed's changes as time passed. But I'm curious---What is a stand off pad? I dont see any other references to "stand off pad" anywhere on the net. (I'm restoring a...

Hmmm the action was pretty smooth before I took it apart but I’ll make sure the orientation is correct …someone’s been inside this ratchet I’m sure.
